(I was previously given permission by Skinner at DU2 to post periodically about http://www.wishadoo.org, with this required disclaimer: "The administrators of Democratic Underground have given permission for one discussion thread on this topic. The administrators of Democratic Underground make no claims regarding the legitimacy or illegitimacy of this fundraising effort. Permission was granted by Skinner on 8/6/2010, and the moderators have been notified." I hope this applies to DU3 as well. Thanks in advance. Also, hyperlinks not working; sorry )
For those of you not familiar with Wishadoo! it is a site dedicated to creating more compassionate, cooperative communities, and offers tools to put this into action. Just as DU has had a recent major upgrade, so did Wishadoo.
The primary tool is the Wishlist, "a craigslist of compassion."
A fellower DUer has an URGENT REQUEST:
http://www.wishadoo.org/wishlist/77/friend-who-is-terminal-needs-to-find-loving-home-for-her-two-cats/
Please, please read the above link and share it via email or if you're on Facebook, Twitter, wherever.
Time is of the essence, and finding a loving home -- one home -- for these two kitties would be such a blessing for this Wishadooer's friend, whose time to pass is drawing near.
Her final request is to find a home for her babies; that one thing would give her such peace of mind.
Please reply to the above link if you can help. The Wishadooer is far away from her friend, not in the same part of the country at all, but is trying to get the word out, especially to those in the Northeast, if not the New York area specifically.
There's an angel out there who can take both of these babies and provide a loving home, and help bring this woman peace....somewhere. Please spread the word to help find this person or family.
Thank you!
Yay for extended editing time!!! I JUST saw that the subject line had a huge typo...lolol

(26,076 posts)I have friends in rescue. That would be the best way to go, so the kitties find good homes, and can stay together.

(26,076 posts)I would want my furbabies in good homes. I have relatives and friends I trust to do that, and who have room and money to do that, but not everyone does.

(7,875 posts)Unfortunately I don't have anybody in New York. But at least by posting this comment the thread will kick back to the top.
Good luck. Sorry to hear about our friend...

Operation Roger... Truckers Pet Transport
Test Drive A Pet - Give A Pet A Ride
7 Year Anniversary - September 16, 2012
Thanks to our wonderful volunteer drivers it has been our pleasure to deliver
612 pets since we started, 97 for 2011, 2 FOR 2012.
Thanks also to all you gents and ladies in rescue who care deeply for needy pets and desire to see them have a chance to live a complete life with a loving family. Without you guys, none of this would happen. Our mission is to help rescues get pets to new homes and individuals retrieve pets they've had to leave behind.

(3,927 posts)I don't know what his limits are. He's a partner in a small plane (the nut loves skydiving!)
He's strong Dem, too, as is his assistant -- I always have great conversations when I go in there. I just recently learned he does pet rescue transports using his plane (and his assistant volunteers for a local rescue group....gotta love this small practice!!). I have no idea what distance he goes and how often he's able to do it, but he's a resource I could call if it would help.
DUH! Ed to add his location: western North Carolina (Blue Ridge Mountains/Asheville area)
glinda
(14,807 posts)maybe he knows others that do this also??? Maybe someone in that region? He must get donation dollars from rescue groups or something??? I do not know how such things work.
The thing is they have to have a home destination to go to.

(18,186 posts)I have family in NY, but none who are home long enough to care for kittehs, but I will kick and rec this and hope something comes through.
Thanks for doing this for Glinda, and I hope her beautiful furbabies find a good home so she has one less thing to worry about.
You are a very dear, kind, compassionate DUer, and I hope DU knows that.

(9,298 posts)I have a feeling these beauties are going to be on their way to a good, permanent home shortly, but will you keep us informed, onegrassroot?
Thanks for being the good friend you are.

(22,920 posts)I'm not the good friend -- Glinda is the DUer who is the good friend of the woman looking for a home for her kitties.
I'm simply the facilitator to help get the word out.
But we will definitely update everyone when we get good news about finding the kitties a home.
Thanks for the positive vibes and the K&R!

(15,758 posts)Unfortunately our one already neurotic cat would spontaneously combust if we got any new furbabies. Such a shame, because these seem like sweeties.
So here's a kick and some vibes that they will be able to be feline overlords to new hoomin minions soon!

(3,927 posts)and hoping to hell she finds a wonderful, loving forever home for her two little ones.
I have multiple health problems and this is something I've arranged in advance with a friend of mine -- she and her DH are willing to take my two little furbabies (dogs). If you're able to, it's something worth doing no matter what if you're single and have pets!
I know it would ease her passing to know her little ones will be safe and sound after she dies.
Always happy to see your wishadoo posts -- it's a great thing you're doing!

(166 posts)Please PM me. I recently lost 2 of my 4 cats; Julian (16 years old) and Louis (14 years old.) I still have a hole in my heart where they belong and your friend's situation breaks my heart all over again. 3 of my 4 cats were rescues and my home is still set up for 4 indoor cats. I would gladly take in Bubble and Squeeks. The hardest part would be transportation. I am disabled (multiple sclerosis) but I could get my brother to drive me to New York on a Sunday. I am in Boston.
So please PM me. I could be the solution to your friend's wishes.
