Millions watch "The View" every day, and they're often right on with the lead issue they discuss.
Portland is under siege by Trump's brown shirts. Trump stealing the November election is on everyone's mind. A Trump "October surprise" of a so-called "effective Corona vaccine" is a possibility. And the virus is still infecting millions and killing tens of thousands.
And "The View" opens up with Kayne West??? WHO GIVES A SHIT?
I'm not working right now and so I'm getting to see "The View." Sorry to get so worked up about it, but when they start paying attention to peripheral crap while we are about to go over the edge of a cliff is inexcusable. They have a voice that many people pay attention to. Mary Trump or something else should have been their first story, not some Kayne/Kardasian bullshit.

(25,272 posts)Watching Kanye - I'm thinking that Trump is looking and sounding just like him and Kanye is actually creating an image of Trump as an 'unstable and on the brink of insanity' troubled person.
We're seeing so many similarities between these two.
Birds of a feather......

(15,063 posts)I haven't been able to see it for too long, but they usually open with something at the top of the news. Kayne West is nowhere near the top of anything important.

(42,014 posts)They went from this guy is a self serving maniac, to this guy needs help.
My husband watches the view, I dont, but I wonder if they will treat him gently, because he clearly does need help

(42,014 posts)But Im not sure how influential The View is. I know my husband watches it, because while he hates Trump, he processes information differently than I do, he needs a lot of smaller political sound bites, like you get from the view, whereas Ill read articles and skim different media. (I have a poor attention span for TV and even movies the last couple of years for some reason)
So maybe youre right, I think a lot of people are like my husband, they need small succinct and frequent facts, shows like the view could provide if they choose.
Ill guarantee you my husband has no idea who Kanye is, or why hed be on that show

(41,991 posts)Sometimes DUers shock me with their opinions. This is a talk and politics show designed to give the pov of a group of women, representative of many women in America. It features things I dont have an interest in but many do. Theres controversy and differing opinions, for me a feature since I want to know what people think other than those who echo me.
Kanye West is also an interesting man, and is a personification of many of Americas issues todayrace, money, political anxiety, mental illness, celebrity. I actually have a soft spot for him. I like his music of old and hes carried a sharp intelligence even into the depths of his terrible, terrible bipolar disorder.
And make no mistake, Kanye is WILDLY Bipolar I. His brain is subject to storms that push him into wildfires of thought that are uncontrollable without medication that in fact can mess with his creativity and in fact his very sense of self. It takes a lot of tweaking to find a reasonable sweet spot and it works differently for different people. Ive treated numerous bipolar patients and some have been some of the finest people Ive ever known. And in a wild manic swing they were CRAZY. Ive worked with psychiatrists who prescribed meds that worked for some and didnt for others.
My long winded way of saying Kanye is worth the time they give him. I havent seen the show yet but will later. I liked it when Joe was on, and Kamala, and Abrams, and Newt, and Pence, because I want to hear people asked questions by women who, whether I agree with them or not (OY, Megan!) give me information and might give people not glued to politics something to think about.

(29,322 posts)There were a lot bad takes especially from Meghan McCain I won't get into.
I think The Real is a better show & they do cover politics but I don't watch Daytime TV.
