The folks anchoring on the weekends are among those warming up in the bullpen, as it were, for the big Monday-thru-Friday slots. They’re the vacation relief, fill-ins when one of the bigger names is ailing or out on assignment.

Interesting to see who’s being assembled in this group. They’re pulling from frequent interview guests who have already shown that they do well on camera.

Makes sense to me. And she stood her ground against this republi-CON motormouth and dominated. Wouldn’t let him keep stuffing her or trying to talk her down.

Too many interviewers back down and let the motormouths keep talking. But you can wait like that for an hour with some of these assholes, for them to pause or even stop just to take a breath. It’s an interview strategy I’ve observed for awhile by now.

These assholes have been coached to keep talking keep talking. Keep talking! Keeptalkingkeeptalkingkeeptalkingkeeptalkingkeeptalking. Don’t let the interviewer take control. Keep talking. It’s like being in a sparring match. Keep jabbing keep jabbing. Don’t stop. Don’t let up. Keep stuffing your opponent. Keep ‘em busy. Keep stuffing.

Next time Kellyanne Conjob gets in front of the camera, just watch. She’s a master at it. She strings 157 sentences together in one big long run-on sentence without taking a breath or stopping after she think she’s made her point. She slides through whole arguments and several different issues in a single run-on sentence - deliberately and specifically to keep you, the interviewer (or critic) from breaking in to challenge or ask the next question. She literally makes it so that you can’t get a word in edgewise. She drowns you in blabbermouthing so you don’t even know (or remember) what point you wanted to debate or refute. SHE runs that discussion because this big long wall of words just blocks you out. You’re overwhelmed.

trump does that, too. Just note all his run-on sentences. Lots of sales pitch. All running together in a tidal wave to wash you out and wash you away. The mouth keeps moving. The flood of words keeps pumping and gushing, relentlessly and overwhelmingly.

Interesting verbal battle tactic. It parallels what trump does with his actions. The “drinking out of a firehose” thing. You’re overwhelmed by a 50-foot tidal wave of words. Flooded by a roaring tsunami. And many opponents just give up. You’re left in a position in which you don’t know WHAT to respond to. Which argument, in that gushing hemorrhage of verbiage, to rebut. Because you missed your stop, three miles ago. It’s like trying to board a commuter train that does not stop to give you time to get onboard.

It’s a tactic. It’s a strategy. It’s DELIBERATE.

And Tiffany Cross wasn’t having it. That guy tried to keep talking. And as he did, she attempted to butt in, and when he wouldn’t stop, SHE wouldn’t give up and cede any ground to the filibuster. SHE kept talking. And talking OVER him. And it was SHE who didn’t let up. And she kept at it til HE gave up and stopped talking.

She wasn’t giving up any ground.

I was watching this and “coaching” from the stands: “keep going! Keep going! Talk OVER him. Get LOUDER. DO. NOT. STOP! Don’t give an inch! Not a second! DON’T give up the mic! DON’T let him run on.

And she outlasted him, and refused to give in or cede ground or let him dominate. SHE overwhelmed HIM.

Great choice! And her finishing “take” as she cut to commercial was a brief gesture of gagging reflex.

and she make some outstanding points, but I really don't like this style of interviewing. Too much talking over the guest, a guest who was probably invited on just to create such a moment. Joy Reid used to do the same thing and even invited the same fools on over and over again. That is one of the reasons I quit watching her show. Too often it started to cross over into Jerry Spring territory.

I really like her, but I don't like these sort of gimmicks, often meant to get a clip on social media and boost ratings. I hope she doesn't make a habit of it. It is pointless and nonproductive.

Their plan is to filibuster and pack as many lies into a paragraph as possible. If an interviewer waits patiently and politely for them to get to the end of their "answer," it is virtually impossible to fact check and counter the stream of lies they just spewed. They have to be interrupted and their strategy disrupted. Otherwise, they will manipulate the interviewer's politeness into a vehicle to advance their lies and the interviewer actually becomes complicit in the propaganda.

She did EXACTLY what needs to be done when interviewing someone like this.

I remember the first time I saw Joy Reid do that with a weird Trump surrogate and I was initially impressed, but then she brought the guy back several times and did the same thing. It was too much like a scripted routine and actually served no purpose other than to get clips on social media.

This guy was certainly a horrible guest, but I'm quite sure that Tiffany and the show knew that in advance. Most shows wouldn't have even bothered to invite him. Once again, it was a gimmick, not a serious interview, meant to elicit emotional responses from viewers and probably meant to be an audition for Tiffany Cross for that time slot.

Cross is really sharp. She had some great questions and excellent fact checking. I just don't like this style of interviewing. I've seen it too many times in the past and it reeks of a scripted ambush.
