Due to the School Reopening Policies of Trump's Administration,

I predict that there is going to be an explosion of COVID-19 cases in September and October. It will be worse in the Red states, which have Governors who are following Trump's lead on the school opening issue. However, Blue states will suffer, as well.

Sometime in October, it will be abundantly evident that Trump made a horribly wrong decision and that thousands of people per day are dying because of his idiotic, politics-based decision to reopen schools in the midst of a burgeoning pandemic.

Trump's landslide loss on November 3, and many other losses for Republican candidates, will make history, I predict. Even now, some Republican leaders are turning on Donald J. Trump and doing so publicly. More will follow, in September and October, when Trump''s tragic mistakes become known unmistakably and the hospitals are full of dying people of all ages.

Unfortunately, recovery from Trump's stupid decisions is going to take years, if not decades.

Trump will be gone, but his legacy of disease and death will live on, long after he is dead and gone.

2020 will be known as the Trump Disaster.

will not. Trump's decisions will allow children to be the carriers of this pandemic into homes all across the country. We'll begin seeing the results of this terrible choice beginning in September. The schools will be closed again, probably by the end of September or early in October, but the damage will already have been done, bringing Covid-19 into far more households than would have housed the illness had Trump not believed that opening schools would help him politically.

Trump will learn that he was woefully wrong, but too late. What he will have done can't be undone.

For those surviving children who are infected but recover, there's no telling how their health may be affected for the rest of their lives. The repercussions to national health and the accompanying financial hit in health care costs will be just another lovely gift that keeps on giving long after trump is gone.

and disregards the rest. Paul Simon got it right.

Donald Trump's tragic failing is that he does not care what happens to anyone but himself. Narcissism is a horrible thing.

for postponing the election at that point.

I don't give Trump credit for such strategic thinking, but those around him are.

Trump cannot change the date of the election. He simply cannot. That would take an Act of Congress, and the House of Representatives won't give him that, I am absolutely certain.

The election will take place on November 3. Count on it. GOTV like crazy!

What I intended to convey was that the scenario you posit will give him an excuse to further attempt to postpone the election. If he can sufficiently undermine people's trust in the system, especially if the turnout is extremely low, or there are any one of a myriad number of other glitches, he will have the fuel to say the results are fraudulent.

He will be wrong, of course, and may well just disappear in the middle of the night sometime before January 20.

What I intended to convey was that he will use the OP's scenario as an excuse to postpone. Which he will not be able to do, of course. His only intention will be to create enough confusion and turmoil so that he can swoop in and rescue us all. The only thing he's good at is creating confusion and turmoil, and he really is good at that.

The small and insufficient gains against the virus made by reluctant republican governors like Greg Abbott will be wiped away. Trump will lose, but his loss will bring about as much relief as joy if not more. It will be bittersweet. He will leave a permanent stain on the country. The source of his power, a sizeable percentage of the population detached from reality, will remain.
