Bad news for Michigan elections this fall. Michigan Supreme Court, by 4-3 vote, refuses to hear case seeking postmark deadline for counting absentee ballots.

I'm sure there will be more litigation on this issue, but the takeaway is this: Michiganders need to request their absentee ballots as early as possible, and then return them as early as possible directly to their clerk's office. Don't rely on the mail.

1. In Ohio they must be returned by election day...and I think that is fine.

I would prefer the all ballots are returned by election day so we are not left hanging...we ordered our ballots already. We would have preferred to mask up and vote in person but there is no in person voting in Ohio.

It isn't complicated to get the ballot and get it back into the Board of Elections in a timely manner. Sure there are hiccups in the system and there will be issues with the post office as we know, but once we have a ballot it will be filled out and turned in by hand at the County Election Board.

"To make sure your absentee ballot is counted, it must be received by your board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day OR be postmarked by the day before Election Day."

13. No in person voting in OH?

Since when? There certainly is in person voting in OH. OH has early voting as well as election day voting. DeWine managed to cancel the primary due to covid. I don't think he can cancel general election, that would be insane.

of the Gore win. When Gore WON the election.

We need to be prepared for fascist killers ending our Democracy on or before the election.

Oregon conducts its statewide vote-by-mail elections (and has for decades) with an 8 p.m. deadline on Election Day. Postmarks don't count. I was thinking really hard about getting my ballot turned in, but Wednesday just snuck up on me doesn't count. Local media constantly update people day by day with percentages of ballots turned in, tell people when the last couple of days to put your ballot in the mail, and when it's too late to mail. We have ballot receptacles dotting the landscape where voters can deposit their ballots. Voters can also take their ballots to their local county elections office and drop off their ballot.

This isn't a moon shot, it's an election with paper ballots. Get information out to people and things will go just fine.

Nominations have to be official, all the names have to be on the ballot.

7. We've been voting by mail (absentee) for several years here in Ga. We are both in our late 70's

and waiting in long lines at the polls was getting to be a pain (literally). Ga. actually does a good job at security & proof of voting. You fill out your ballot and put into an envelope, then you put that into another envelope which is signed & dated, seal the whole shebang, attach a stamp & mail it back to the Board of Elections. When it's received, your signature is compared to the one on file & if the sigs match the ballot is processed into the voting system & a confirmation is put into your online info that shows you voted in that election. You can access that info to confirm they processed your vote. It may be one of the only things that this crazy State does right, but I gotta give them coodos for this one.

DT is just trying to scare people into not voting so HIS followers will out number the Dems on Election Day. It's BS as usual from him. If you can, get your mail-in ballot and vote for Joe so we can finally get this JA out of office!

is needed.

The repugs in the legislature wanted to require each ballot be notarized but it didn’t pass.

As my wife and I signed up on line for mail-in voting earlier this year.

Voted and dropped it off at the township clerk's office as per instructions.
