(796 posts)Biden uses his crossed arms too often. It is a combative, defensive posture.
I know it may be habitual, but he needs to practice looking relaxed with arms at his side.

(10,667 posts)I recall in the roll call last night many people standing relaxed with their arms at their side. I suspect there was a coaching memo and that was one of the tips.

(47,586 posts)when he stood relaxed with one hand in his pocket. He look very self-assured and presidential.
As for the crossed arms, I haven't noticed him doing it excessively and in the above photo it looked perfectly fine.

(13,058 posts)empathetic, not combative & defensive. I don't see a problem with it.
I've seen 45 with crossed arms with a mean, dictatator-wanabe facial expression. That to me is the posture of a man who is combative & defensive.
When Donald crosses his arms, he looks like a spoiled toddler who isn't getting his way. I expect him to start throwing food any second.

(10,435 posts)there's a clear difference between the confident arms-crossed pose of Biden and the petulant pending-tantrum defensive arms-crossed posture of MF45

(9,426 posts)Normal, adult people. Imagine having THEM in the WH and in VP residence?

(5,432 posts)I remember a time when those characteristics were a given for any politician. Well, most, anyway.
Nice to see normality in action. Missed it greatly over the past few years. Seems more like a couple of decades, really.
Time for the cardboard cutouts in the WH to start packing their bags.
Best check the kitchen silverware before they leave. Bag checks called for, secret service guys!

(9,426 posts)many moons ago, when I actually RESPECTED politicians of both parties. I honestly thought they were doing their best for this country. They addressed each other with respect, and seemed dignified. Well, NOW that curtain has been ripped off completely. Exposed is the vile underbelly of the republican party of greedy selfish people. Out to enrich themselves, no matter what it takes. Travel to Moscow on the 4th of July? Good idea, then Vlad can pay us in person, no pesky paperwork to explain. Prop up the least qualified goon EVER to sit in the Oval Office? YES! He has the same (low) values we have. We can help destroy the USA, just as Boris said "We will destroy the US from within. No bombs needed" Did he know, even back then how corrupt the gop really is? People had better wake the HELL up while there is still time to save this country. Or is there?

I'd go nuts too.

(10,063 posts)No one can claim that Trump represents family values with three marriages, affairs with porn stars, numerous allegations of sexual assault, possible underage sexual assault through Epsteinand then the image he holds up for the nations children to emulate as a constant liar, a mean bully, a lazy dolt who golfs or watches TV most of the time, a man who praises himself every time hes on TV, and a person who cheats to win. Some role model.
Dr. Jill claimed the family values for the Democratic ticket with her speech last night.

Also, shouldn't Biden be wearing a more expensive mask, like an n95??

(10,839 posts)Love that first one of Biden and Harris donning the requisite masks. Another reminder of where we are 76 days out.

(6,921 posts)why the crossed arms in the photo don't look confrontational.
But yes - he still should cut down. Expecially in situations where he has to wear a mask and the smile can't be seen.
