What to expect on Day 4 of Democratic convention: Joe Biden to accept nomination for president

Joe Biden is scheduled to accept the Democratic Party's nomination for president Thursday night, culminating political career that spanned 36 years in the Senate, eight years as vice president and two previous attempts at the nation's highest office.

Biden, who previously ran unsuccessfully for president in 1988 and 2008, is expected to recount his philosophy overcoming hardships including the deaths of his first wife and infant daughter in a 1972 car crash, and the death of his son Beau from a brain tumor in 2015.

How to watch

DNC speeches will be broadcast from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET Monday through Thursday.

The event will be broadcast on all major television networks. Viewers also can tune in using Amazon Prime and Amazon Fire devices, including listening via Alexa, as well as watching on Apple TV and Roku TV.
