Please please please stop making stroke jokes

and please ignore/delete/drown trolls etc. who do.

I’m a geriatric nurse, and trust me, this is a poison pill, a vote loser, and most importantly, a really shitty thing to do that is way below who we are.

and got Aphasia. What a frigging horrible condition that was! Then she had several littler ones.

But I don't think people at DU are laughing about strokes. We are a compassionate lot.

EDIT - I just saw something on the Greatest Page. You are right for speaking out.

I haven't seen any jokes about the situation.

What I do know, is it's completely relevant to know whether the person running for election, is a ticking time bomb.

but I did have a different thought when you posted "stroke jokes". I guess my mind is not as clean as I thought.

My dad has Parkinson’s.

Of course the real story is that Trump has a condition that we aren’t being told about. We do have a right to know, because Parkinson’s does often have cognitive effects. But making fun of him for that does make me a little sad—not for him but for people like my dad.

There's a meme going around about Trump and strokes that is very offensive. Just because Trump makes fun of anyone and everyone, doesn't mean that there aren't limits to how we should behave. When we turn a medical condition into a joke, we are becoming much too much like him and in the process, we could be hurting a lot of people who are stroke victims.

That said, I agree that the White House should not withhold vital medical information about a president. I just cannot see any place for crude humor that affects so many people.

in the middle of the first COVID wave. Lost mobility in left arm and leg and slurred speech. She’s fine now, recovered mobility and speech fairly quickly.

But she’s 94 (20 years older than you know who) ... and she’s not the president of the United States, in charge of making critical decisions for the country.

No one should be joking about strokes, but neither should we overlook keeping something so serious from the American people.

I respect medical privacy, but since blood coagulation problems can be part of COVID, I'd like to know more.

Anyway, I don't believe it because they let him walk to the car carrying something. A portable oxygen maker?

He has been so ugly, so uncaring, and stupid regarding other people's rights to be well, that it's really hard to give a damn about his feelings. Also, I went to the Dark Side a couple of years ago, and I wake up each day hoping to hear that he went to meet his Maker. I hope people understand this, but I know I'm going to Hell anyway...wait, the US is turning into Hell. Never mind...

I have posted this on another post: https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=14010297 , and so there is no reason to duplicate this as it is exactly what I would say.

my healthy husband of 47 years played a round of golf and on his way to meeting me for breakfast had a massive stroke and died in his car...that was 4 years ago...but this is Trump denying the obvious though I will say this...a TIA requires a functioning brain and a blood flow...so I don't know....
