Because bricks are too heavy? For such a "builder" he doesn't know much about building materials. A brick weighs between 4 and 5 lbs. I promise I can throw a brick and do considerable damage with it. I'd also much rather get hit with a can of soup than a brick.

We know that force = mass X acceleration. So, if a brick and a can of soup moving at roughly the same speed, the brick would hit with more force due to its increased mass. Not to mention that bricks are fucking hard. Ever drop a can of soup? They dent really easily, it's like a crumple zone in a car. The can absorbs a lot of energy that never transfers to the item it is hitting. Bricks don't crumple.
