GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — For the second time in a month, Gloucester Township police broke up a house party attended by hundreds of people amid the coronavirus pandemic. The most recent party took place at 1580 Jarvis Road on Sunday, and there were 250 to 300 people in attendance, Gloucester Township police said Tuesday morning.

When police initially responded to the scene, they were told by security at the party that it was strictly a family affair. However, they were later told by attendees that they were charged between $100 and $150 admission to enter, police said.

No one was wearing a face covering or following social distancing guidelines, police said. Using a sound level meter, police also determined that the music violated the township's noise ordinance, police said.

Several people who attended the party also blocked neighbors' driveways and stop signs, and there was trash and broken bottles all over the front lawn, police said.

The homeowner, 56-year-old Lionel Mincey, was issued citations for noise violation, maintaining a nuisance and littering. More charges may be filed for violation of the Governor's Executive Order.

The investigation is continuing with referrals being made to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, New Jersey Alcoholic Beverage Control, Camden County Health Department, the New Jersey Division of Taxation, and the US Internal Revenue Service, police said.
