Same mash bill as Pappy’s and not really much different between the 2 unless you can afford to drink really expensive bourbon all the time and develop the pallet for it. Which I can’t.

Both are made at Buffalo Trace distillery which is a great tour if you are ever in central Kentucky.

Even if you find Weller’s Special reserve which is only aged 5-7 years it is fantastic bourbon. For $25 a bottle it beats many at 3 times it’s price.

Obviously I like Wheated Bourbon over the spicy rye which is much more common.

I love Maker's Mark, but Benchmark Old #8 has 80% of the taste at 40% of the price.

And I cannot keep open bourbon in the house. We have a full bar for guests. Most common liquors and a few obscure ones. I never touch them. But if there is an opened bottle of bourbon I can’t refrain. So I generally don’t drink it. Only buy it for special times.

We took a trip with the boat to the coast last weekend so I have some Makers left. It will be gone in a few hours.

I could easily become a functional alcoholic so discipline myself not to buy it.

One glass a wine a day is my normal limit. Fishing trips and Election Day are exceptions!

Funny story. I deer hunt in a tiny South Arkansas town near the Louisiana border. Where my family lives. Dry county so we have to drive 8 miles to Louisiana to by booze. The liquor store is a ramshackle old gas station where you can sit in your truck and have them bring your purchase to you. Including mixed drinks in a styrofoam cup! Louisiana. Anyway, last year I went in and on the top shelf were 3 bottles of Blanton’s!! I about fell down. Worker told me they get in a bottle a month “ but ain’t no one here paying $60 for a bottle of Whiskey”! I walked out with all three bottles for $140. If Covid and my budget allows I will go back this year. Guess where my first stop will be?
