https://ktla.com/news/local-news/bags-of-usps-mail-dumped-in-glendale-spa-parking-lot/Piles of mail were found in two separate locations in Glendale Thursday morning, including one incident where a rented truck was captured on surveillance video dumping bags of unopened letters and packages in the parking lot of a business.
The first incident was reported at 7:30 a.m., in the 1000 block of Allen Avenue, according to Glendale Police Department Sgt. Christian Hauptmann.
Roughly two hours later, police received another call regarding dumped mail, this time behind a business in the 1600 block of Glenoaks Boulevard, according to Hauptmann.
It was the second reported incident outside 7Q Spa Laser & Aesthetics where surveillance video captured the moment a rented truck dumped bags of unopened mail and took off.

More U.S. mail was found in an alley less than a mile away from the spa, according to police. It was not immediately clear whether both piles were dumped by the same truck.
Postal Service investigators are looking into the dumping incidents, Glendale police said.

(12,649 posts)DeJoy's USPS probably isn't paying them overtime anymore, most likely. Postal union protects mail delivery people returning with undelivered mail, but contractors will be required to return with no deliverable mail in their (rented) trucks.
All it takes is one slacker to apply for minimally regulated contract delivery work to be able to get paid while "hanging out" and a bunch of mail gets dumped before his or her shift ends.

(8,049 posts)to the voting lines so that people with bad backs/knees/health issues would be able to sit as they move in the line.
If there are health issues, that is what absentee and vote by mail ballots are especially for. The problem is the post office shenanigans at this point in time.
I guess I should have said that anyone who CAN vote in person needs to put on their mask and hit the street.

(10,885 posts)The original person I was responding to - BComplex - said in their post "NOBODY should be voting by mail this time". I merely pointed out that's not necessarily possible, that some of us HAVE to vote by mail.

(14,306 posts)as are several others. Oregon has just a 20-day window before the election when the ballots are sent out. In most years, thats plenty of time. This year, I worry I wont receive one before election day.
I plan to use one of the many drop boxes they have set up for us rather than mailing it back...assuming I get it.

(8,020 posts)all have made it to their destination on time, used priority and first class. I remember hearing over the years about bags of mail being dumped here and there for whatever reason. USPS is under attack, there is no doubt, but I believe the vast majority of mail is getting through and I plan on using them for shipping and voting.

(8,049 posts)Get your mask on, some gloves if you can, and go vote in person. Then right there you know you voted and they got it.

(11,518 posts)Hard to say without more facts, but the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of tRump and DeJoy and the way they've run the USPS.

(7,016 posts)why dump in a place sure to be noticed right away. Someone wanted everyone to see this. Why ?
scarletwoman
(31,893 posts)They wanted the dumping to be noticed in order to sow distrust in the USPS.

(7,016 posts)was in the trucks and who ordered the dumping. You can't just pull up to the post office grab a shitload of mail and go off with it. Love to know who's responsible.

(583 posts)I would not trust in-person voting cause I would worry that the machines can be messed with and change votes. Isn`t that why Trump is freaking out so much about mail voting since machines can`t be rigged?

(583 posts)nothing to do with the post office. Unfortunately I do not think every community in every State has these boxes. I live in Washington State which is a vote by mail State anyway. I love it.
