Is it not? Looks to be 109° today. If people have no A/c (I didn’t when I lived there), what else really are they supposed to do? They’re outside. And for reference from a summer incident across the pond: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/amp/53519668

5. Humans are social animals, we've reached the limits of what many will accept

Let's face it, America blew it.

People, especially young people, want their lives back and are increasingly unwilling to stay home alone.

One of my good friends was complaining in our group chat that his neighbors had a 40+ person party (complete with bounce house) in their back yard yesterday. Neighbors are hispanic and not right-wingers, it's not just Trumpers giving up on social distancing.

We are now seeing proven reinfection cases, which are with different strains. The number of active strains is steadily rising as coronaviruses mutate readily. This also means any vaccine is going to be more like the flu shot (needs regular revaccination and is not 100% protection). In other words this is never going away.

My thought is national mask law with enforcement mechanisms and penalties for states/municipalities that refuse to enforce. Reopen businesses and public places - but have emergency powers set up to force and enforce total shutdown and quarantine if hospitals hit capacity. Horse is out of the barn, we blew it - and the moron in the White House shoulders the biggest blame.

The vaccine will not be like “the flu”, although the effectiveness is yet to be determined.

There went whatever chance we had tamp it down and have a somewhat normal summer.

With kids going back to school and fall sports starting up at the interscholastic level, the Fuckening is upon us.

... as I understand it from the various sources of risk assessments of environments.

It's congregating in crowded bars with poor ventilation afterword that is the more serious risks.
