How about if we also have one day a year where we celebrate saving the earth for us, we could call it Earths day or something like that.

9. Turning all the trees into gasoline would solve that problem.

Then we can plant corn where all the trees used to be to make ethanol.

Nah, that doesn't sound right.

Seriously, we ought to be paying people to experiment with lifestyles having a very small environmental footprint.

We already know what most of those lifestyles would look like: No cars, mostly vegan, and urban. Walking would be the primary form of transportation, followed by bicycles and a very wide assortment of electric vehicles.

But we can't have that. It would break too many obsolete business models.

Somebody who spends their Labor Day weekend enjoying a 99 cent ebook and puttering around in their little garden isn't burning a hundred gallons of gasoline hauling their big ass truck and boat out to the lake so they can spin around in circles. What will the oil companies do? Internal combustion engines are sacred.

An god forbid we ever build ultra-safe nuclear power plants to replace coal, oil, natural gas, and wind generated electricity because we are still obsessing about the deficiencies of half-century and older nuclear power plant designs while ignoring the deaths and environmental catastrophes caused by fossil fuels.

Plus, not only would we have to stop adding greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere, we'd also have to remove what's already there.

People talk about the former, stop burning fossil fuels, but rarely ever talk about the equally important latter which is removing the greenhouse gases which human activity has put into the atmosphere.

California. They're leading the way in using clean solar and wind quite successfully. No poluting fossil fuels or dangerous nuclear. Leading by example.
