(11,683 posts)I just KNEW there would be a big funny turn in that-his examples were truly humorous but the choice is much easier! More like a choice between a pile of bullshit in the human shape or a real living breathing, sentient, caring, experienced, gentle person leader.

(63,221 posts)Seriously, per capita, they turn out some really talented, funny, brilliant people more than most other nations. Anyway, just kind of bouncing around in my head here. But here's to Canada! I hope they will not reject us entirely. They are a great neighbor.

it's been said that a LOT of comedians were outsiders in school. David Letterman and Jerry Seinfeld, for instance, have said in interviews that they were never the popular kids, the "in" crowd, as it were, and that ability to observe from a distance honed their ability to see past facades, notice hypocrisies and self-contradictions in "normal" society, and to point them out. Jim Carrey from Toronto is an excellent illustration of the point, growing up in a country most of the world doesn't pay much attention, right next door to one that hogs the global spotlight.
EDITED TO ADD: Eh?
I apologize to any and all Canadians here for the oversight.
