(21,947 posts)Stories just dont have staying power like they used to. What seems to be more important is capturing the focus of the daily news cycle.
In that regard Id say Trump is getting his ass kicked lately. He has used a constantly churning news cycle to his advantage in the past, but I think its coming back to bite him now. He needs to get his numbers back up every day he has to spend fending off a new, devastating bombshell about his conduct is a wasted day for him. And there arent that many days left until the election.
Also, the effect of these negative stories is cumulative. Just because the media is no longer talking about his slurs against the military, it doesnt mean that the people he insulted are going to forget it. Every time a new group of people are slandered by Trump, he bleeds some support from that group.
