Poll shows narrowest lead yet for Hickenlooper in Senate challenge of Gardner

Challenger tops Republican incumbent 51-46 in Colorado survey

A poll released Thursday shows Colorado’s U.S. Senate race at its narrowest point to date with four weeks before ballots are mailed.

Democratic challenger John Hickenlooper leads Republican Sen. Cory Gardner by a five-point margin, 51% to 46%, in the telephone survey of 800 likely voters conducted by bipartisan polling firms of Fabrizio Ward and Hart Research between Aug. 30 and Sept. 5. The poll was paid for by AARP and has a 3.6% margin of error.

It is the first survey to show Gardner within five points of Hickenlooper and the fourth recent poll to show the race within single digits. A Sept. 3 poll showed Hickenlooper leading by nine points, as did an Aug. 25 poll. A July survey showed the former governor leading by six points over the Republican senator from Yuma.

On Thursday, AARP also released results from a separate survey, known as an “oversample,” of voters 50 years or older. Among that group of 749 Coloradans, Gardner is leading 49% to 47%, which is within the 3.6% margin of error.

Hey Colorado..........really...........Gardner left an asshole in charge of the country ( he's the the one pictured on the right) and instead of removing him from office for his criminal behaviors and then outright admission that he knew about Covid19 was a major problem and then he lied about it to the american public and Gardner has supported him through thick and thin, do you really trust Gardner with your life, he just voted to fuck over children that go to bed hungry, no unemployment help, eviction help, no help for state and local governments, he sides with #Moscow Mitch over 90% + of the time ..............do you really trust Gardner with his judgement and principles....................people are are dying in my former state.............he just as much as enabling psychopath as that orange hair confection............JFC.....

1. Gardner is being helped by a nasty ad campaign on Hickenlooper. Hick's ads are positive...

and I've not seen one that fights back against the very over-the-top accusations of corruption in those ads.

This is going to hurt us.

Gardener has Coloradan citizen deaths on his hands literally...........with this Covid 19 virus, and him just voting yesterday to basically do nothing for the state and the citizens and the country.....................JFC.....................

6. I knew Hickenlooper would blow it. They should have gone with Romanoff. Once again

we will have to spend resources to bail this guy out which prevents us from widening the map to our second-tier races, which will be critical in putting us over 50.

3. Hick looks semi-crazed in a commercial I've been seeing ad nauseam in my area.

And it's his own commercial! I think they were going for upbeat & positive, but seriously, he looks like he's jacked up on something.

4. Not Worried

I live in Colorado and Corey is hated here. Hick leads independents by 25% which is huge considering that they make up a huge part of the electorate here. I also don't buy an AARP landline poll given the fact that most people here use cell phones.
