9/11 families urge Trump administration to drop deal to take Sudan off terror list

A last-minute appeal from victims of the Sept. 11 attacks could derail a pending Trump administration deal to remove Sudan from the list of state sponsors of terrorism – a designation that lumps it together with North Korea, Iran and Syria.

Sudan's government has tentatively agreed to pay millions of dollars to American victims of the USS Cole attack and the 1998 bombings at two US embassies in Africa. That could pave the way for the Trump administration to remove Sudan from its list of state sponsors of terrorism.

The fight could have far-reaching consequences for hundreds of American families touched by terrorism and the future of Sudan's fledgling democracy.

It comes comes as Sudan is trying to transform from dictatorship to democracy and improve relations with the United States. Last year, Sudanese protesters took to the streets and successfully ousted then-President Omar al-Bashir, whose brutal regime had ruled the country for three decades.

"ALL roads lead to Putin."

Further, it was stated that the previous Sudanese regime was engaged in money-laundering schemes?; yet, even with the "terror" designation and a global pandemic costs, the settlement funds have been secured?

In addition, Dimwit's likely to say: It's my deal; it's my money, rinse, dry, repeat...

I am sure that 9/11 families' lives were changed forever...I'm equally certain it was damned hard to toss the very valuable "The Heart of the Ocean" back into the sea for an emotional "Let It Be" moment ONLY IN THE MOVIES; still, counseling thereafter must have made inroads for survivors to drop the overbearing visitation set on bitterness that money surely would never cure? Were only white elite survivors given packages to save their homes and college-educate their children? Wouldn't those funds be of even greater important to improve life and circumstances for the citizens and children of Sudan? Would it not be a generous America, after investigation of "democratic" processes in Sudan, to just DROP the designation!

With so little time left for this gang of grifters, I'd wonder what's in it for whom...hopefully it will lay dormant until the new Secretary of State can look at the direction our country should take on this grifting "wonderful opportunity" of monetary gain.

Other than those thoughts, I'm clueless and perhaps not as aware as I should be on African affairs. What should I know?
