I just voted online for directors of a nationally affiliated org I belong to

Unique login, password. Sent to a central database for tabulation, tracked so can only vote once, electronic receipt.

Seems like the kind of thing that a nation that sent people to the moon should be able to figure out if so many weren't fighting against voter access and election security.

The actual primary election is tomorrow. I saw that Joe and Jill went today to vote in person. I agree, online was very easy and I purposefully chose those 2 'lesser' elections to try it before the General. I did have an issue the first time submitting my 'packet'. They (Delaware) had included 2 sets of instructions for submitting through email. The first time I used the 1st set of instructions because that was the easiest, and the files did not attach correctly. Truthfully, they shouldn't have confusing and contrasting info in the email. BUT, I had an alert from the elections office the next morning asking me to resend since the file was corrupt and did not include my voted selections, only the cover affirmation. The second time I used the other set of instructions, created a secure mail account, and had no problems uploading.

I will either vote online for the general or as absentee hand carried to the drop box at our county elections office. I feel it could be compromised any of the ways we have available. It just depends on what would be the most difficult.

I didn't intend to suggest we should move to all online elections. It's another potential tool to increase access.

They mail you a unique identifier, you go online, plug it in & away you go. 👍

Did not mean to imply we should have online elections exclusively. Just that it's a viable option that is worth looking at in addition to in-person, mail, etc.

In a civilized world, this would work well if everyone had inrernet and, most importantly, if our pRedident & his coconspirators were not attacking our nation &, especiay, overtly doing all they can to suppress voting rights!

Great idea once we are rid of chumputin scum!

What's wrong with hand marked paper ballots?

These can be counted by machines or by humans.

No computer specialists are required to safeguard the integrity of the election. Ordinary people can recognize election fraud -- all the ways votes might be lost, altered, fraudulently cast, bought, sold, etc..

If we vote using computers it's all hidden. How computers and the internet function are a complete mystery to most people. Computer experts know that fundamental security flaws in computing systems often go undiscovered for years.

You might argue that electronic banking works, but these transactions are not secret as ballots are. Both parties, the bank and the customer, know and agree how much money is transferred.

In elections we don't want "the government" to have a record of how each individual votes.

This is why online voting has not been implemented. Too easy to hack and not transparent, nor verifiable by cross check.

Paper ballots are the way to go. Mailed or in person. They are verifiable, countable in front of many sets of eyes at the same time (been there doing the counting), and much more difficult to corrupt.
