Well, if you wanted to lose it, that is.

I was doing great before the pandemic. I need to socially distance from my kitchen.

To make this happen I had to spend nearly 3 hours a day walking the treadmill. 2 sessions a day. Sometimes I feel I'm not getting anywhere but I keep going. I just got under 200 yesterday. I only consider the weight before I do my first session.

I originally walked barefoot on the treadmill and then had to wear sneakers. Those sneakers have gotten worn down walking at least 6 miles, mostly at least 7 daily.

I've been doing a lot of yard work this summer, which has helped. That could change with cooler weather and staying inside more.

Not going to restaurants or hanging out (eating) with friends, eating only what I order online (no snacks, desserts, few carbs) made it relatively easy, though it's been about the only upside of the whole situation. I'm wearing clothes in sizes that I haven't been able to wear in 20 years. I look better than I have in a long time, but now nobody sees me.

It was closer to 10 at one point

It was all very early, back in March when I stocked up at BJ's just before quarantine. They had trail mix on sale and their classic trail mix is fantastic. I bought 8 or 9 huge bags, expecting them to last months but I was going through one every 2 days.

Since then I've eaten more sensibly

Breakfast of a scrambled egg BEFORE 10 am, and then something else between 2 and 4 in the afternoon. Sometimes just a sandwich.

And belts are now a necessity.

That was in March. But in the past two months I've put seven back on.

Schwan's delivers ice cream.

I can also blame it on the heat. Too hot to exercise.
(Is that a good excuse?)

When my husband was sick I really porked up. Stress eating.

It is not any sort of accomplishment losing the weight. He's gone now and it's just me. Not a whole lot to do since you can only clean the kitchen so many times....so a lot of bike riding and walks. Plus most meals all alone really suck.

Hubby and I managed to eat somewhat decent food from the beginning of the shutdown until the end of May. But then our daughter came to stay for three months, along with her 1 and 6 year old. I needed my daily bottle of wine to unwind at night. The kids did to me what COVID couldn't... I turned into a drunken slug. Thankfully they finally went home last week and I've stopped imbibing. Dropped 4 lbs so far.

The wife is back to work and we are fine financially. I cook healthy at home and we seldom eat out now. Plus active round the house. And we fish on the gulf which is very active. Only 2 meals a day. A smoothie of 2 cups of fruit, Icelandic Skyr and water for an early lunch and a healthy dinner when the wife gets home.

If not for beer and and Bourbon on the weekend I would have lost 40 lbs!

Up right now, because I can’t exercise outside during the heat wave (SoCal heat wave goes about a month and a half) and due to the bad air quality (wildfire, you know).

It gets back down to the low 80s and I’ll be able to take walks and get back down to my fighting weight.

I’ve been within five pounds of my current weight since I was 16 — I’m coming up on 51 in a few months.
