I was at work when the fire broke out, and was not able to get back in to help evacuate. We are in Medford Estates. Our home is one of twelve left standing and untouched, My Siamese Harry was trapped inside for three days. I knew in my heart he was safe and that God had him. I was escorted in by police to get my Harry and he was fine, as was our home, literally untouched. All my friends' homes on our street untouched. All my flowers still in bloom... My sweet Sugar Plum Harry doesn't even smell of smoke, just kitty litter. My roses, Sunflowers, everything, not a mark on our house... Literally a miracle I cannot explain. I just kept telling people when they asked where I live and I told them, they would turn white and cry. I told them My Harry was fine, and as soon as I was allowed in, I would get him and he would be fine. People just kept turning white and crying. Then, the police escorted me in and helped me get my cat. Our house is literally untouched and perfect. My gardens all still in bloom... Haven't been back in because investigators are in with cadaver dogs and such. I witnessed something I can't explain. 12 mobile homes left, and ours was one and my Harry is perfect, just smells like kitty litter. I believe in prayer, if you do too, please continue to pray, if you don't, please just skip my post. I absolutely cannot deal with one word of negativity. We have four family members who have lost everything but their lives...
I have not been allowed back into our home other than to get my cat. The police officers were absolute angels. I look daily for addresses allowed back in, but ours isn't on the list yet. Our park is melted to the ground but our 12 homes. Please pray. We have many family and friends still in the path of the fires and so much chaos and phone circuits down. Now that our situation is a little calmer, I will help some others. I have been working all along because my clients are vulnerable and we have set up evacuation for them too.
We evacuated my eldest sister to Salem, so she's safe.
Please pray for my Harry and all of us. The TV pictures do not cover what's really going on. If Harry isn't better by the end of the week, I probably should take him to the vet, but I truly think it's due to trauma from everything burned around him. Like I said, he can purr, just not talk.
My love to all.

(11,756 posts)I am going to check on a former client tomorrow. I know she's in distress. I know she trusts me, so I will go after I am finally online tonight for the first time and can get business done. Then tomorrow, I can go to dementia patients who aren't my clients and help them and reassure them. Check their alert batteries and such. Tomorrow will be busy.

(11,756 posts)Giggling knowing my sisters and cat are safe... It's hard to explain. Then also the sorrow I feel for others including our family and friends who have literally been burned to the ground. It's just hard to explain, because I don't understand my feelings either. I am just so happy to have my cat safe with me. Everything else will fall into place!

We hope you continue to stay safe. Please don't get complacent with coronavirus, as it's so easy to do in an emergency.
Let's all send some good vibes and best wishes to both hurricane and forest fire victims tonight.

(90,529 posts)...but many houses we looked at in the Spring (looking to buy) were burned to the ground. So capricious.
I am so glad you checked in, and that you, your family, and kitty are safe.

(11,424 posts)If you need anything let me know. I haven't left the house in a week because of the smoke and my bad allergies.
So glad your home is fine and kitty. It's hard on the fur babies. My golden retriever doesn't understand why we haven't walked in 9 days.
My kitty hates the smell in the garage where her potty is it's smoky in there too many places air gets in.

(22,461 posts)Smoke inhalation. Even though your house made it, it's probably not air tight, so he probably breathed in some smoke. He'll probably be better after some more time. I'll keep you, your sisters and Harry in my thoughts, for sure! Here's a hug especially for you to show Harry:

Regarding Harry, I had a Siamese years ago. Siamese are vulnerable to feeling traumatized if they are left alone for too long. Three days by himself with the heat and roar of a fire all around him could have been traumatizing.
But, he might have inhaled smoke or bad air, so a trip to the vet is probably a good idea.
Prayers and good vibes to you, your family, and everyone else affected, including Harry.

I know friends down here who have room for evacuees. If you know of someone in need, please PM me and I will give you my contact details, and try to connect you or others with those who want to help.
