Hamza Shaban @hshabanEarlier this year, the White House canceled a proposed plan to have the Postal Service deliver a pack of 5 reusable masks to every household in the US, starting with hard hit areas.
But an administration official said they didnt want people to panic

(40,209 posts)This has nothing to do with "panic." This is insanity. The initial hard hit area was New York. They want people to die.

(11,861 posts)so they won't be a "drag" on public services.... they want old people to die so they won't suck down health care money and bankrupt social security.
These are al the lies that the Republican Party has been feeding the populace for half a century.
The GOP have nurtured a generation of selfish, racist, bullying, punks, in 40% of this population and Donald Trump is their GOD.
Now they want us hurry up and die "Boomer", so they can reap what they have sown.

(5,459 posts)I think they wanted black and brown people to die so THEY COULDN'T VOTE.
Knowing full well that people of color lean democratic, this was part of the TRAITOR'S reelection strategy. It's simply a crime against humanity.

(32,634 posts)They assumed that the city-people (in other words minorities) don't vote for them, so why should they care? They are monsters.

(70,501 posts)In April, HHS planned to send a pack of five reusable masks to every residential US address. They even got USPS to draft a news release. Then the White House canceled the plan, fearing that it would cause a panic. It wasn't fear of a panic it was because
@ that time the C-19 was hitting blue states and minorities.

(6,172 posts)And yet they planned to send 5 reusable masks to every residential address.
That would be about a billion masks...maybe more.
So, was there really a shortage, or just a managed shortage?

(85,996 posts)...not convinced reusable cloth ones couldn't be mobilized to households.
Trump still hasn't fully advantaged the Defense Production Act which would have facilitated the production of masks.

(14,918 posts)Was it Trump himself? Jared? An actual person with a name made this decision and caused the death of thousands of Americans. They do not deserve the fig leaf of "the White House" to hide their guilt and shame.

(85,996 posts)I see President Trumps fingerprints all over, said Austin Evers, executive director of American Oversight. Its clear from the presidents public comments, and the actions of his administration, he has a major agenda for the post office and we see a lot of it in black and white here.

(5,255 posts). . . to demonizing and interfering with the USPS to stop people from voting? Probably harder to do that if the Postal Service had efficiently mailed everyone a supply of masks. Of course, the pandemic might not be so bad now if this plan had been carried out, either. Or if we'd done basically anything like countries with real federal/national governments.
I want to know, like others above, who stopped this. This is passing negligence and fast approaching criminality.
Number 1 really was to not panic. The market. They didn't give a damn about people.
They also HATE gov and didn't want to show it could actually help. Leave it to the "private sector" and hey lets make money!
Post office too might have been why show how important it is
They killed people. Simple as that. Had they sent them out there would have been less deaths, plus the trump morons *may* have been more willing to wear them having come from their hero. trump is too much of a moron though to have used this to his advantage

(23,313 posts)The last time I ordered nitrile gloves for our business, in March, they were around $50 per case...just over $4 per box of 100. I usually order 2 cases at a time and those last our staff about 6 months. I went to order them this week and our supplier would only sell me one case and it was $165...almost $14 per box! I said no thanks and went to shop around online and found that I couldnt find them any cheaper anywhere else. I ended up calling my supplier and asking for that case of gloves after all.
I remember when the federal government was seizing PPE from states. I might be crazy but I wonder if the grifters who were doing that didnt also steal gloves with the intent to sell them at 3 times the cost? Nothing would surprise me. I do know there are no American companies that manufacture nitrile gloves so it could be that. Who knows. Regardless, yesterday, we adopted a policy that nobody peels their gloves to take a phone call...theyre too expensive to risk tearing them taking them on and off.
