Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made it an administrative offence for a Ukrainian soldier to fire his weapon at a Russian Federation soldier. Defending Ukraine from the foreign invaders is now a crime.
A September 16 order, No. 330, lays out Zelenskyy's treason. https://censor.net/ua/resonance/3220133/nakaz_330_ministr_oborony_taran_zobovyazav_shtrafuvaty_i_pozbavlyaty_premiyi_viyiskovoslujbovtsiv_za

I reported earlier that Zelenskyy sent what I call "reverse barrier troops" to the front lines. These special units are there to punish Ukrainian soldiers if they shoot at Russian soldiers. That's the reverse of what NKVD units did to Red Army soldiers during WW II.

(35,304 posts)to fire on a Russian occupation troop (including return fire) unless there's an order allowing it by the Ukrainian soldier's commanding officer *or* it's an instance of military necessity.
My Ukrainian's not great, but it's good enough to read the formal text that's linked to. Find the second part that's underlined; it's the rest of that paragraph, the part that's *not* underlined. The paragraph after that points to the appropriate military administrative code defining "military necessity".
It's not a full-on invasion. There are Russians who take pot shots at Ukrainians. Sometimes it's to get a rise out of the Ukrainians, identify their location. Sometimes it's just for sport. Some Ukrainians soldiers do the same.
There's a kind of armistice that's signed. While I think it's a stupid idea, it's entirely Russian to have a soldier fire on the Ukrainians, then have another soldier record or report just the Ukrainian return fire. Suddenly you have a notorious, viral instance of Ukrainians firing for no cause.
Not just, but there you go. That's the nature of dealing with the Russians and of how video footage and reporting is often advocacy and not truth reporting.
