Our lone hope in this mess was that Roberts would vote with the liberals at least occasionally. I think he would have in an election situation. Maybe gorsuck and Roberts and 3 liberals would. That’d be helpful.

No matter what the final numbers, all Trump needs to do is claim "massive voting fraud" and declare a state of emergency until it is sorted out by a commission established by A.G. Barr (which, of course, will rule in Trump's favor). If the SCOTUS rules that the President has such a right plus the right to remain in office past the end of his term until the state of emergency is over (and they'll have the ultraconservative majority needed to do so), then that's all she wrote. And, oh, sure, you may see riots in the streets, but remember: with the sanction of SCOTUS, it becomes fully Constitutional, so the military will be required to follow Trump's orders to enforce martial law with lethal force.

But I can't see Roberts, Gorsuch or Alito doing something so asinine if the election was not close at all.

Trump has already signaled that he will immediately put down "insurrection." And, if he's kept in power by SCOTUS interpretation, that's fully Constitutional, and the military will be committing treason if they don't follow his orders.

We have to realize the hard truth: we may still have a constitutional system of government, but that Constitution doesn't guarantee a democracy, if the President 1/3+1 of the Senate, and a SCOTUS majority decides to go another direction. And there's nothing "full-on riots" will do to change that, except to ensure the death of the rioters (and, probably, millions of people who will be certified as "in league with the insurrectionists&quot .

Than live another 4 years with Trump in office. I'm serious. I was going to say dead serious, but my post is morbid enough.
