"It means that we are going to war"

How RBG's death could radicalize American politics

“It means that we are going to war,” one influential Washington Democrat texted tonight when asked what the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg means. “They do this in the lame duck and I think Americans will rebel.”

The passion is understandable. Ginsburg was the most important and iconic Supreme Court Justice to liberals since Thurgood Marshall, the first African American on the court. She was the Left’s Antonin Scalia. Replacing her with an ideological conservative — creating a 6-3 majority on the Court for the right — would have enormous policy consequences, and not just on abortion, but on civil rights, gun laws, regulation and many other issues.

“The question will be Chuck's fortitude,” a Democratic strategist said. “He could shut down the Senate. A government spending bill is due in a couple weeks.”

There is a fierce debate about whether a Supreme Court battle motivates liberals or conservatives more. One conservative who supports Biden argued that dynamic favors the Democrats.

Republicans have been treating it as a war for over fifty years. It’s time we stopped backing away from a fight because it isn’t the “gentlemanly way.” As I’ve said repeatedly, there’s no point in following the Marquis of Queensbury rules when the other side has a switchblade, or even a gun. Forget the “going high” rhetoric…when they “go low,” f***ing curb-stomp ‘em! Then, do it again.

Puts focus on Mitch and Don the Con. On Rule of Law and what Barr has done to her lately. On the Bill of Rights, civil rights, and how they're being abused against ordinary citizenry. We could have no better Champion to understand how Law runs our lives than Joe Biden. He's been a moderate/left for decades on the Judicial process, and Senate Judiciary member. He's been through Supreme Court hearings. We may not have liked it at the time, but that gives him credibility.

In considerable measure we are in better shape with this wider perspective and more focused landscape. RBG gave us the intellectual toolkit. We must run with it.

has been radicalized since 1969. Any vet, just as any POC, any woman who votes for trump wants a return to days where POC are treated even worse than this day of trump or post-Civil War. Where women will be relegated to 2nd class citizenship, again. Will be driven out of politics and a myriad of careers across the spectrum. With power comes abuse. And the black man especially will be openly shot in the streets in numbers unseen since Emmett Till days. Do you want to read fear-mongering? This if we don't fight tooth and nail. And when we gain the national seat of power we cannot let bygones be bygones this time. Prosecute to the fullest extent of the laws that have been broken by this administration and trumps cronies sitting around the bar in maylanialago grousing about what their fathers told them about how women and negroes knew their place in his day.

January 20th has to be a day of reckoning for d. trump and his grifter family of thieves.

Although I never stop voting I stopped giving money and volunteering my time. Just to watch the (Ds) fold time and time again. Look what the let Scott Walker do in Wisconsin extending right through the 2016 election.

Can you imagine the harridan coming from that upper level GOP brainstorm? Katherine Harris, Michelle Bachman or they may even dive deeper into the dumpster's bowels and create a candidate, Frankenstein-like, from the remains of Roy Cohn, Strom Thurmond and (in a nod to ovaries) DNA from both sides of Sarah Huckabee Sanders' mouth.

.... plan accordingly. This is no time to be a coward or to be nice guys and gals. This is a time to behave as if a known killer has their hands around the neck of your youngest child with the intent to kill it.

If you don't plan on killing the enemy then you will kill the democratic party with your cowardice.

Who will come out to vote in 2024 if you throw up your hands in defeat? Do not under any circumstance let them pull the same stunt that STOLE TWO SCOTUS SEATS ALREADY.

My wife and I are not rich and are on a fixed income. BUT we have donated more money than we can afford at this point. That will STOP FOREVER if our Democratic leaders fold. We have already cast our absentee ballots for Biden. But if you give up without a fight we will stop fighting and enjoy our retirement as intended.

Stop the FUCKING hand ringing. YOU KNOW TO WHAT EXTENT moscowmitch will go. EXPECT IT! FIGHT BACK!
