(11,302 posts)but there are absolutely times when body cam should not be released to public. For public safety reasons. People who have cooperated with the police can find themselves under real threat of bodily harm in their own community. It's not an insignificant danger to them or their families if they are gratuitously "outed."
Note here the AG is speaking of death investigations. In these cases the public "need to know" rises to a different level, and takes on greater priority. But for a lot of other day-to-day policing matters .... Yeah, keep the cameras rolling. But that doesn't mean that every neighborhood snoop (and believe me, they're out there) has a "right" to see every second of every day. (IMO)

(8,049 posts)neo-nazis from all policing departments of every kind throughout the USA. Until that happens, the bad apples are throwing doubt on even the really great cops.

(11,302 posts)Police departments across the country need a thorough makeover. And a strong culling. Far too many racists (and flat out thugs) -- and far too many that are willing to look the other way.
