If he knew she was terminal, there was no reason to release the list... because the clear frontrunner has been on the list for 3+ years already. No need to add Cotton/Cruz/etc.

The reason for releasing the list is the same as it was four years ago. To remind his base why they support him. If he knew she was fading away, he would know that he didn't need something artificial to remind them or to try to get Biden to release a similar list.

I live and work in rural America. All of us have seen this coming for a long long time.

It is only those in urban areas that were surprised by the coup in 2016. Everyone I knew at the time was predicting it once the brexit vote happened. It was clear that their system was operating and successful.
