It's portraying older (70+) voters as selfish, biased, right-wing scolds who think they lord it over their children and grandchildren.
And it's portraying younger (30-) voters as selfish, disengaged, lazy do-nothings who need to fend off these dinosaurs.

I realize the point is to encourage young people to counteract these clueless old fogeys by getting out to vote. But it fails on all counts. It sets up a generational divide that shouldn't exist (and is not true), and it stereotypes both age groups, which is the kind of non-inclusivity we're trying to oppose (and it's not true either).

Every person I know in the older category is a true blue liberal; and there are some young people who are ardent Trump supporters. We cannot start painting with a broad brush.

It's natural for young people to think their parents or grandparents are clueless, outdated morons, and for older people to think their children and grandchildren are clueless, inexperienced morons. But every young person (if they are fortunate) will be an old person; and every older person was once young. We are all humans in it together, and we are either liberals, centrists, or conservatives, at all age groups.

This is a horrible, divisive ad. I don't like it.

I agree that the idea that old people are all Trump voters is not a good one.

Sure, they're actors—actors portraying older people as selfish and unconcerned with the social fabric or economic conditions of others. That's a stereotype that sticks, and it influences opinions. And it's false:

A poll released Thursday from Monmouth University found that 54 percent of voters aged 65 or older plan to vote for Biden, compared to 43 percent for Trump. The poll shows Biden leading Trump 51 percent to 42 percent overall, with the only age group favoring Trump being voters 50 to 64, who prefer the president by a 7 percent margin.

7. I think it would be much more effective to use real quotes

from real old people who support Trump and who really want to fuck over young people, rather than these actors reciting from a script that was so obviously written to try to manipulate young people.
