Trumpsters Tried Voter Intimidation in Virginia; Today, There's a Huge Line to Vote!

https://bluevirginia.us/2020/09/saturday-republicans-tried-voter-intimidation-at-fairfax-county-government-center-monday-morning-huge-line-of-voters-waiting-to-cast-their-ballots

Wow – so much for Virginia Republicans’ voter intimidation efforts this weekend, it would appear from the looks of the “huge line at the Fairfax County Government Center” to vote this morning. Go voters, go Democrats!

UPDATE 11:40 am – I’m told the line is longer than it was on Friday. Also, I’m told there are only two people at the Republican table, no Trump flags like on Saturday.

Within that boundary, and within the polling premises, no electioneering is allowed. That means no signs, no clothing, and no verbal speech for or against any candidate, party, or ballot initiative.

Now I'm embarrassed to say I don't even know what the laws are here in California. Fortunately, I'm in L.A. County, but CA has some real wingnut pockets....

as a poll worker.

I can't speak for other counties of course but Tarrant's election security is impressive, and our new equipment has made it even better.

Nothing goes across the internet except the registration lists. 100% paper backup. The scanner holds the data and the ballots are locked and sealed before they travel to the Elections Office (along with the scanner)

Their mail in system is something else though. You've got to be in a nursing home, assisted living facility, SSD, or in jail and not convicted of a crime. And I'm getting shit for overseas voting right now.

Sent a hard copy of my ballot request to Collin County and it seems to have disappeared. Really nice people, they're quite embarrassed by it but if I could get back to the States ( forget that, I'm in Bangkok) I'd hop a plane to do it.

As it is I'll keep on them until I get results.

Usually day 3 the early rush is over. How many locations do they have?
We are going to have 50 for early voting, well distributed around the county (and an extra 5 days added at the beginning)

On Election Day, we can vote at any open polling location - 330 precinct centers. Plus we can clock our wait time and check with the surrounding precincts to find locations with shorter lines. Our voting centers are fairly close together; there are 6 very close to my house.

We don't have that in my precinct (at least in any previous year).

This year I'm dropping off an absentee ballot at County Registrar's office, so won't see the precinct.

So if it's the same in VA, going to small cities won't work. And we only have one early voting place per county. Which of course makes it much faster to early vote if you live in a small county.

18, each county started early voting at the county's registrar office, usually located in the county's local govt. complex.

Constant lurker here. In my little town outside of El Paso, TX, they’ve moved early voting from the tiny senior center to the huge high school down the road. They feel something in the air, maybe? Can’t wait for the 13th!
