They are paraded out every time the Pukes want to let all the other Pukes off the hook. A diversion that works every time with the Media. Never mind the others. Same Same.

(21,722 posts)He doesn't get that the reason the dems are so mad is that they held the seat open for close to a year. If Garland didn't get through the vote, we wouldn't have been upset, well maybe a little. The reason we are so upset now is that they will be rushing the nominee through

(11,303 posts)Having a vote to have a vote is one thing. Yes or no on the nomination is another.

(25,183 posts)the high grand poohbahs of the Mormon church had a little sit-down with Mittens after his split impeachment vote. I recall that there was even a move in Utah for a recall election. It probably reminded him that he now represents Utah, and not Massachusetts anymore.

(26,783 posts)He made clear that he will vote based on the nominee's qualifications if it reaches the floor.
Since he isn't on the Judiciary Committee... that's the first time his vote matters.
Even Collins and Murkowski aren't necessarily "out" if they are needed for some reason. Saying that the Senate should wait until the people choose the next President doesn't mean that they would vote "no" on a nominee that came up for a vote.

(25,183 posts)I'm sure that polling is being done in Maine regarding how GOP voters will feel if they think Collins has abandoned them, and she will dance to the tune being played.
On the other hand, please recall that Murkowski was once ousted by the GOP'ers in Alaska, and had to keep her Senate seat by the difficult route of a write-in candidacy. She has a lot less regard for the GOP base than Collins does.

(6,453 posts)This doesnt mean we shouldnt pull out all the stops to grind the Senate to a halt and keep hammering that this shows indisputably that all they care about is their own power and enrichment, not individual Americans. And Id be bringing up the Heroes Act for vote after vote in the Senate and attach it to everything to remind people we are fighting for them and The Rethugs couldnt care less excerpt about being Trumps. Supreme boot lickers, so say it loudly and often and keep hammering them. The American people respect fighters not supine appeasers like this thoroughly corrupt bunch of neoConfederate/fascist cabal of trump enablers that is the modern GOP, all of whom have the deaths of coronavirus victims on their hands for not ridding us of this monster during impeachment when they had the chance.

The results will be the same.
