Only mass people power can stop Trump's coup. What are you doing to prepare?

I normally don't make shameless asks for social media meme-spreading, but I'm making an exception today.

Right now, on Twitter, I'm trying to spread the hashtag #OnlyYouCanStopTheCoup. Yes, it's time for the shameless ask. Can you retweet this?

And yes, CALL IT A COUP. The more we call it that, and not an "election technicality," the more legitimacy Trump loses.

My advice: START PLANNING MASS RESISTANCE NOW.

Some steps.

1. Find five trusted friends and start plotting. Not Facebook friends or Twitter followers, or even those here on DU. Five friends in your offline life that you may need to trust with your life. This is how we build our own Dumbledore's Army or Rebel Alliance. A few friends at a time.

2. Get time away from your work or other obligations so you can hit the streets during the upcoming Hell Weeks.

3. Figure out for yourself how much of John Lewis's Good Trouble you can handle. Yes, it'll get ugly. Yes, if you want to win, you'll have to take risks. Risk of COVID, risk of fights with inbred Boogaloos, and risks of arrest and even imprisonment by riot cops or Trump's secret little green men. Yes, people are going to need to be brave. I'm scared too, but here I am. Not everyone can handle getting clocked on the head like John Lewis did, and that's OK. This is a revolution of ordinary Americans. Be prepared. Know what you can handle, and do what you can.

Of course, I'm only one guy on the Internet. I can rant and rave all day, but if people aren't stepping up to the plate, nothing's gonna happen, and Trump's gonna sleaze his way to being a dictator. We can defeat him, but only if enough of you want it.

Did you not hear me say to find five people you trust and start planning? I'm only one guy. It's only going to go anywhere if you do something and find friends that are also going to do something. The default is inaction. Pulling the people off of inaction is going to take work.

And call what he's doing what it is - an attempted coup d'etat.

Part of our strategy is to make sure the voters crush Trump in a giant landslide, so as to make his attempted cheat completely impossible.

But at the same time, the Trump administration and the GOP have become completely disconnected from reality, so we will still have to defend the vote after casting the vote. We can beat them 80% to 20% and they'll still claim they won and they'll still try to ratfuck us in SCOTUS. We need to make it clear that there will be blood if they try.
