There have been enough already, and it really doesn't help anyone or anything. If your intent is to suppress voting, forget it. Democrats aren't going to give in to fear. Fear is letting them get away with this shit. Vote, either by absentee, early voting, or in person BUT VOTE, dammit!

(31,261 posts)There are two types of problems in life, problems that an individual can remove with action, or problems that an individual cant remove. Anyone that lets the first problem linger is an idiot, IMO, them crying and feeling helpless doesnt change that. Since the second problem cant be solved, the wise course is to not worry about it, while preparing to deal with its fallout. I honestly consider incessant worriers to be weak people, I know that sounds harsh, but I simply cant come up with any other image of them.

(31,261 posts)or let him have his way. I will die before I sit back and not attempt to vote him out of office, that is why voting in person doesnt phase me one bit. When the in person votes are announced on election night, I want it to be clear that Trump has lost the electoral college and popular vote and will only get more destroyed as mail in vote counts creep in. I believe that allowing any other possibility invites horrific chaos.

(6,559 posts)I refuse to die before the election. (I hope I have better luck than RBG in that regard) I have been working on my survival since the 2016 election. I want the thing in the White House out of office!!! It's not for me, but for my nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. I want the United States to be a legacy we leave for the future, and fear it will not be here if Mango Mussolini somehow stays in office.

(29,149 posts)anyone here suggest that this is any reason not to vote. So I don't really understand the finger wagging. Different people are going to be motivated by different things. And different people are going to be discouraged by different things.
The prospect of a president who very obviously has autocratic desires saying creepy autocratic things is likely to motivate plenty of people to vote, to encourage other people to vote, to donate to Biden, to donate money to help our party contest legal issues with the election, to donate to various other opposition candidates, etc. And those are good results.
If one encounters hopelessness, one should definitely counter that hopelessness. But I don't see the point of criticizing people for expressing anger or concern. Those things are quite clearly warranted.

(12,821 posts)The whole "your concern is duly noted" response is such a disrespectful thing to say to those in your community who are, frankly, RIGHT to be scared and concerned. This is the time to provide them with moral support, a shoulder to cry on, and a pep talk, NOT baselessly accuse them of trying to suppress the vote. Sure, I guess some actual troll could show up and try to crush morale, but wouldn't it be better if we show EVERYONE who post such concerns that we are strong, motivated, and never going to give up? Legitimately worried Democrats will get the boost from us that they may sorely need, while covert rightwingers will see that their efforts to discourage us are wasted.

(29,149 posts)but rather by caring for and understanding one another.
Panic and fear are what the other side wants, sure. But their end goal is despair and discouragement. When we transform panic and fear into righteous anger and care for the afflicted, we render those tactics powerless.

That's why I'm trying to push #OnlyYouCanStopTheCoup. Because that's literally true. If people want liberty badly enough, the thing to do is first, vote, then get out of the basement and hit the streets, and keep the country shut down, and keep the billionaire scumfucks bleeding money until we coerce Trump out of office.
