My dad does not vote

My dad is in his 70's. He is a Vietnam Veteran. For my entire life, my dad has been angry at the government - it goes back to Vietnam. He came home and went straight to DC to protest. I'm in my 40's and anytime I brought up voting to him over the last few decades (the first discussion I can remember was when I was 10 and George HW was running) he'd express his anger at our government, our wars, the whole process. Now, 4 years ago my mom said she saw his name in the voter registration book, but his signature wasn't there for that day and she didn't question him further. We don't know if he voted in 2016.

I texted my dad this evening and said, "you better fucking vote." Harsh? Yeah, but it's all good. Y'all, my dad responded that he is voting this Nazi out. He's checking out the early voting info for our city.

In recent years, my dad has expressed more anger at his own father. My grandfather fought in WWII in the US Army. Make no mistake, though, he was an absolute Nazi. My grandfather made a point to wear Nazi armbands on Jewish holidays. In public. He wrote racist screeds to the opinion section of our local paper. I think Trump reminds him of his own father and it's inspired him to finally vote. My dad is also a (retired) healthcare worker and educator and seeing the murder of 205,000+ Americans by this buffoon has him seething.

I see a lot of people worrying that no one will vote because their scared of Trump. I just wanted to share the story of a lifelong non-voter who is going to vote that orange shitstain out of office.
