(23,226 posts)1. Bill Clinton appointed a couple before he was impeached....
One of them was Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Andrew Johnson got no appointments. He had one nomination, but Congress just eliminated the seat rather than fill it.
Nixon appointed four, but was never impeached for his crimes.

Clinton didn't have the opportunity to nominate a SCOTUS justice after he was impeached, but I would have fully supported his authority to do so. He did nominate other lifetime tenure judges after being impeached and that was perfectly fine, too.

But there has only been 3 Presidents who have been impeached. Not that it matters any from a legal standpoint.
