Yes, being a USSCJ is a big deal, but being the one to steal RBG's seat against her express dying wish will make that nominee 100% persona-non-grata in most of Washington DC, and opens them (and their family and associates, etc.) up to a a long time of being absolutely hated by millions and millions of Americans.

Maybe there's a chance a nominee won't think it's worth it. (Slim, slim, slim, but any glimmer of hope would be great.)
