Google on Wednesday announced that it's added a COVID-19 layer to the Google Maps app, which offers critical information designed to help you decide where to go and what to do while still staying safe.
A color-coded system will show you the density of new coronavirus cases in any given area and a label will tell you whether cases are trending up or down there, Google said Wednesday.
The new info is visible for all 220 countries and territories available on Google Maps. You can see it at country, state, province, county and city level data, depending on the area.

(14,853 posts)I looked into it, beyond your article, and learned that I need to turn on the "Exposure Notifications" in my general settings. So I tried, and the message was that it's not yet available in my area.
I remember reading months ago that Ohio turned down that notification option. Ugh.
At least the infection rate keeps going down (2.6% in Ohio now), to the point it's even lower than Michigan, but Gov. Dewine could still do better.

(7,809 posts)I use my cellphone for calls and texting, not surfing. And certainly not for Google maps (too small).
I've clicked every link on the desktop map, and nothing like covid-19 shows up to be looked at.
