I was 22 when the ruling was handed down. In those days, I had to search far and wide to find a female doctor, as there was so few of them. I was even ridiculed for wanting a woman doctor. I couldnt get a credit card, either.
Times have changed and women and the attitudes toward them have changed. Even if Roe v. Wade is overturned, the Right to Lifers might end up being the dog that caught up with the pick-up truck. Fourteen states have codified the ruling into law and in the fights that will ensue in the rest of the states, they will not find a compliant opposition that will shrink from this fight. This Is a country that is used to rights being given, not taken away.

(9,265 posts)In case either of my granddaughters (now little girls) has to exercise her RIGHT to choose and they have to travel out of the country. My beloved girls will NOT be anyones brood mare. Ive always been pro-choice, but being a mom and grandma of girls has made me infinitely more so.

I agree that the issue wont go away if Roe is overturned, but it will still leave too many sisters in red states without bodily autonomy.
