When Trump says it out loud, believe him.

(32,767 posts)Differ.
Stated and then passed a resolution in the senate that there will be a peaceful transition of power and the winner will be inaugurated on 1/20/2021. Mcturtle cares about one thing and it isnt serving a tin pot dictator

(73 posts)peaceful transition, meaning when the Supreme Court calmly and peacefully appoints Trump President with a minority of the popular vote, just like 2000, very peaceful acquiescence.

The underpinning message from mcturtle and the senate ....dont f..k with my power!

(32,767 posts)re-election its subtle but clear, at least to me. Above all else he wants to retain his speakership and the power that goes with it. He is cunning and ruthless, but in a different way than trump. He isnt going to lock horns with him, right now, it would serve no purpose.
It would be splitting hairs, it seems to me to say that he meant anything other than under the current definition laid down in the constitution
Crunchy Frog
(26,587 posts)only specifies that the Electoral College chooses the president, and the electors are chosen by the states. It certainly doesn't specify that they must be chosen by popular vote. There are other ways that a slate of electors can be chosen.
I also don't see how Trump's post election shenanigans could possibly impact the election of senators. They already will have been elected by the time he starts interfering with the vote count or trying to tie everything up in the courts. Hell, his Senate makeup might benefit from throwing out mail in ballots too.
I don't trust Turtle. I think you are probably not going to be able to reassure me on this.

(1,665 posts)Seeing him dragged out, or better yet, rolled out feet-first under a sheet, would be a damn fine thing. Damn fine indeed.
But, he is in fact an immense coward. So there won't be any fighting. Some sniveling maybe. Some petulance. But no fighting.

(38,427 posts)the videos of him resisting to leave, or being carried out, will stop him from being on shows and
from being interviewed. He won't have a following because Donald Trump will always be asked.....
...............
............."..WHY DIDN'T YOU LEAVE THE WHITE HOUSE PEACEFULLY, YOU LOST BY A LARGE MARGIN?"
and Trump will lose by a large margin..just wait and see. ..
.................... And Trump will leave peacefully or always be
asked the above question. And he will not want to answer that question, and be known as the
loser of an election who....'DID NOT LEAVE PEACEFULLY......OR ....................
