(5,308 posts)There's not a thing you can do about it. Don't let trump ruin your week end. Myself, I'm taking a break from politics this weekend. Except for DU, I'm not going to watch anything related to politics until the debate Tuesday night.
I'm simply not going to let circumstances out of my control ruin my life this weekend.

(61,695 posts)Do yourself a favor and find a game or movie to watch. Or go take a long walk if the weather is nice.
Sometimes, even if you don't pray it, the Serenity Prayer is good advice.
I try to stay away from politics on the weekends. I need that or break. There are exceptions, like when a march or protest can give me hope. But I saw no reason to watch Velveeta Voldemort pose for the cameras.
good advice.
its hard but I'll try

(2,626 posts)a little sabbatical from the news. This reality shit show still has some episodes left and they are adept at draining the positive energy right out of a person and replacing it with dread. That is exactly what the shit show star and his enabling bit players want.
Don't give them the power. The show ain't over yet and there could be some plot twists and good surprises along the way. I still have faith in the Democratic process. No point in letting that go right now. If we give in to despair, they win no matter what happens.
Also, videos with kittens or baby goats playing are often just the break I need. They make it easy to smile and LOL.

(51,590 posts)I never do and I either hit the mute button or change the station if he comes on the news, even for 30 seconds. I get super angry in a nanosecond when I see or hear him. Not good for my physical or mental health.

(34,109 posts)listening to books and podcasts a lot more. It keeps me engaged with something other than my own thoughts while I do chores and other things that leave my mind to me.
This has been such a horrible term and our lives are turned upside down and we are all here. Watch or listen or read enough to keep up but don't watch the shows, they will stir you up.
Once caught up, listen to something else that will calm you or preoccupy your mind for longer periods. It will not make you less concerned or less informed but your blood pressure will be better and your entire body will thank you for it.
This is not good for us. We all care so much about this but we must take turns or take breaks, otherwise we will be unable to do anything.
Be well.

(4,104 posts)I've decided to not turn on the TV this weekend. Its so important to take a break from all the lunacy going on. It really drains your life force.
Please, everyone, take care of yourselves.

(19,264 posts)So we need to not only win the Presidency but also the Senate.
Sadly elections have consequences so every person who voted third party or stayed home because they didn't get "the feels" for Clinton personally handed 3 supreme court justices to Trump and the GOP.

(63,221 posts)There isn't much we can do right now. Just take good care of yourself this weekend. Try to avoid the news and when you come back refreshed, work on getting out the vote. That's all we can do right now.

(205,320 posts)And I feel like I need to keep my wits about me for whatever's coming next. I sure can identify, though, with your feelings. It's been like one dark tunnel that keeps getting darker - and there are times I feel so discouraged. But I try to have faith in those who have more power to do something than I do, my senators and our candidates. We really do have some capable people who are working hard for change. Hang in there!

(4,552 posts)Stepping away from too much wine.
Remember that alcohol exaggerates moods and is a depressant.
I find I get depressed and panicky the day after I have a bit too much.
So Im eating healthy and trying to limit alcohol, and am seeing positive results!
