Among the key findings of The Timess investigation:
Mr. Trump paid no federal income taxes in 11 of 18 years that The Times examined. In 2017, after he became president, his tax bill was only $750.
He has reduced his tax bill with questionable measures, including a $72.9 million tax refund that is the subject of an audit by the Internal Revenue Service.
Many of his signature businesses, including his golf courses, report losing large amounts of money losses that have helped him to lower his taxes.
The financial pressure on him is increasing as hundreds of millions of dollars in loans he personally guaranteed are soon coming due.
Even while declaring losses, he has managed to enjoy a lavish lifestyle by taking tax deductions on what most people would consider personal expenses, including residences, aircraft and $70,000 in hairstyling for television.
Ivanka Trump, while working as an employee of the Trump Organization, appears to have received consulting fees that also helped reduce the familys tax bill.
As president, he has received more money from foreign sources and U.S. interest groups than previously known. The records do not reveal any previously unreported connections to Russia.

(57,425 posts)he has significantly reduced his tax burden by paying *his daughter* absurd amounts of money as a "consultant"

Those payments were structured, it seems, to avoid paying gift taxes while transferring wealth to his children. Also people who worked on those projects for which Ivanka "consulted" were, uh, surprised

(65,010 posts)For 8 years in the 70s, dad gave him 3, 3, 6, 6, 9, 9, 9, & 12 million in loans.
Dad didn't pay taxes because the money was lent, PINO didn't pay taxes as the money wasn't earned income.
There were no payment terms or term of loan. When Donnie-boy inherited the fortune, he became the holder of the paper. He wasn't going to collect from himself.
So, 42 to 49 years ago they were beating taxes to the tune of $57 million in eight years, during a period when the median household income was about $14,000!

(53,776 posts)what he's doing. He uses Goebbels' "big lie" technique of just repeating huge lies over and over but that's about it. He's just a lying con man who blew the 400 million he got from his old man (cheated his niece out of her father's (trump's brother) share, then had to go to American banks but defaulted on those loans and had to turn to the Russians which explains why he kowtows to Putin constantly.
This wont affect how his magats vote but it may swing some indies Biden's way. It'll all eventually come out. If he somehow gets elected, this will be the basis of his second impeachment.
