His supporters are likely jealous that he paid so little in taxes and they likely are proud that he cheated the government they hate so much.
His SCOTUS nominee will still get approved and she will take away our health care and our rights one by one.
Our only hope is that a few people who were sitting on the sidelines may be more inclined to vote now.

(16,448 posts)Not at all insightful. Also, his supporters arent the only people voting in this election. They really dont matter.
Be best.

(4,846 posts)But what we don't know is if there is evidence of his cooking the books for such a huge write-off. If we can find such evidence, then this is a huge story because it has criminal implications.

(4,846 posts)If so, they already have the evidence. We just need the NYT or other news outlets to find those out and report it.
There will be some people supporting him till the end of the earth but a lot more people will change their mind if the president is a proven tax fraud.

(8,419 posts)FUCK THEM, and everyone needs to never, ever, ever forget that every tRump supporter is bad.
But this is not about them, write them off, this is about the majority of Americans who are Democrats, (more of us than Repukes) and more importantly all of the Independents. This hurts him with the vast majority of Independents, who go to work and pay their fair share of taxes.

(34,476 posts)As the NYT article stated, there are many unanswered questions. For example, these are not audited returns. How does the NYT know whether he had unreported dirty income in many years? How do they know whether he really put lots of money into his properties, creating real losses, versus hes simply claiming he had all those expenses?
Even without answers, the complexity of the entries on the returns will mean the average American wont understand the returns. So the Trump supporters will interpret whats reported as you said, and the undecideds wont know what to believe.
I hope we both are wrong.

Any day he spends on defense is a day wasted for his campaign.

(9,111 posts)If they havent abandoned him after everything, nothing else will budge them.
But the mushy middle and nonvoters, they can be shifted. I cant see this not pissing a good chunk of them off.

(15,265 posts)...is taking more and more wind out of the sails of those who are propping Trump up. This makes it a lot less appealing to perform dirty deeds on Trump's behalf.

(5,502 posts)But this is awfully embarrassing for him. He had to know this would eventually come out. It just reeks of fraud. This is probably what Putin has had on him. Really shitty finances. I also think this shows he lied on his financial statement when he ran for president.

(63,221 posts)It will take a toll on him and his family. This is a huge blow to them.
It might not change the SCOTUS nomination or sway the loyalty of his cult, but this means he and his family are ruined. That is the only thing they really care about. And I think this is just the beginning. They are going down and they know it.
This will change everything.

(65,168 posts)It doesn't have change any of the 40% minds.
It can, however, make a difference with those 8% that polls show do not yet have a preference.
50-42 Biden leaves 8% uncommitted.
If this makes 3 out of 8 drift from PINO, 53-47 results in a 96.5% chance of an EC win.
So, of course this makes a difference.
Quit worrying about the 35 of the 42.
They're irretrievable.
It's the other 8 to 15.
