Strange how that works? No systemic racism in this country. No sir.

When Biden becomes President, it will be funny to see how Republicans feign their outrage when Biden starts fixing what these assholes have broken. I can't think of anything that Biden could do that Trump hasn't already done in extreme excess.

It's the same as with any cycle of abuse, and I'd call it a form of mental abuse. And, like people in right-wing churches, cults, and the like, they get a comfort level with ceding power.
I don't relate to it, but I've been following some of the discussion on QAnon and cults, and this falls into that pattern. I've thought for a long time that Trump is barely any different from people like Jim Bakker, which is why evangelicals are somewhat drawn to him. They want to give their money to a charlatan.

(19,204 posts)I'm a firm believer that whatever you send out, you get back. I really don't understand how any man could act that way, and I was raised in a republican household. I came of age in the 60s, so I guess it was my rebellious streak that was responsible for my becoming a Democrat.

(19,204 posts)My Dad was an elected NYS Judge, and I was a constant source of embarrassment and abrasion for him. We didn't really come together until after he retired in the early 90s. My Mom did whatever my Dad told her. It wasn't an easy thing to watch all those years, but in the end we were closer than my two siblings (also republicans) ever thought of being with them. Hey, that's life.

(14,926 posts)... "For the millions of Americans affected by domestic violence every year, guns in the hands of an intimate partner who has been prohibited due to a history of domestic abuse pose a serious and lethal threat. In fact, when an abusive partner has access to a gun, a domestic violence victim is five times more likely to be killed. Laws that keep guns out of the hands of abusive partners save lives.
....
Laws that comprehensively protect victims of domestic violence enjoy broad bipartisan support. A 2017 survey found that 81% of Americans support laws prohibiting a person subject to a domestic violence restraining order from having a gun for the duration of the order."....(much more at link)

(790 posts). . . Parscale may have been triggered by the receipt of a target letter from the Feds advising of investigation into profligate spending of campaign cash. No excuse, however, for alleged act of violence. Hopefully, law enforcement confiscated his firearms. Hopefully. I guarantee that this is not new behavior.

(6,610 posts)According to my understanding of the Baker Act the person is involuntarily detained for psychiatric evaluation, not arrested. An arrest involves charges, detainment under the Baker Act does not, it's for the welfare of the person being detained.
