Politico - Yes, A Tax Scandal Can Take Down a Politician

The body of the story recounts years of dissembling about his finances: claiming huge losses to offset his tax liabilities, inflating his assets to obtain massive loans, asserting that: “Now, with his financial challenges mounting, the records show that he depends more and more on making money from businesses that put him in potential and often direct conflict of interest with his job as president.” It is rich in detail, and those details—hundreds of thousands of dollars in “consulting fees” to daughter Ivanka, a disputed $72.9-million tax refund, among other things—are not the stuff of easy interpretation (although $72,000 of deductible “business expenses” for hair styling, might raise a few eyebrows).

But that opening number—$750 in taxes from the self-proclaimed multi-billionaire—is easy to grasp, and easy to turn into a clear political message.

Perhaps the president, who has survived many seemingly fatal controversies, has so succeeded in convincing his acolytes not to believe anything critical of him that this latest story will have little effect. But I wonder: What if people start showing up in offices, factories, in malls and stores, with buttons and T-shirts reading: “I Paid More Taxes Than Trump”?

There’s an 89-year-old ex-Senator in Chattanooga who might be able to tell you what comes next.

I could not wait to vote against "The Candy Man" ! After all he had defeated Senator Albert Gore, Sr who was an excellent Senator.

Today Evangelicals will continue to support a 2x married adulterer accused by 25+ women of sexual assault. Fiscal conservatives are silent over a stratospheric debt and deficit. Conservative lawyers who despise him will hold their noses and vote for him. The people who say they love and respect our military refuse to believe he called those who served “suckers” and “losers” when those words literally define him.

You know the drill.

It SHOULD resonate with those who paid more than a supposed billionaire, but it won’t. This will be a dead story by Wednesday. Replaced by another constitutional crisis of his own making.

who died of presidential negligence and denial when something could have been done, early, to slow down or contain COVID.

Did NOTHING.

Told everybody it was a HOAX.

Said it'd go away, just go away, like a miracle.

For the first coupla months when early action would have made a big difference, and saved thousands of lives.

They're not "pro-life" AT ALL. They're pro-domination of women, owning their bodies, cutting their options and life choices, and deciding where their proper place is.

He is immune from scandal. NYT could release a video of him molesting an underage Ivanka and his base wouldn’t stop supporting him.

Our recourse is to turn out the vote in such large numbers that Biden’s victory is not debatable and then arrest Trump when he refuses to vacate.
