Bogus Census Calls From Spoofed Number

I got a call last night from 800-923-8282. I looked online and they are closed on Sundays so I suspected it might be a spoofed number.

They called just a few minutes ago and I called back and waited until the prompts finished up with "Please hold and an agent will be with you".

An agent came on and I let her know I have received two calls, one yesterday, after-hours and one minutes ago. She asked if I was getting the calls from the number I posted (this is also the number I used to call to speak to her).

I said yes and she said that they do NOT call out from that number and it is spoofed.

1. I got a call from "The Census" a few months ago.

They had my name, address, and unlisted phone number.

They told me I had left my Social Security number off of my Census form, and they wanted to correct the error over the phone.

I didn't talk to them when they called, luckily.... but it's the closest anyone has gotten to me answering.
