With in-person voting only 11 business days away, county election officials will be hard-pressed to prepare the new system on time. With electronic voting systems, each piece must be tested prior to use. The new GA system has 80K devices to test.

Using #HandMarkedPaperBallots instead of ballot marking tablets would eliminate 85% of the testing; its likely the only way to make up for time lost with the database error.
Counties are already prepared with #HMPB for 10% of registered voters.

The flawed database that has halted critical election preparation in GA shows the risks of outsourced elections. The SOS relied on the vendor to prepare election databases for all GA counties, and failed to exercise proper oversight - putting the statewide election at risk.

Kudos to @CoalitionGoodGv
for uncovering the database failure within hours of the SOS notifying counties. CGG's work to secure elections is unparalleled - consider donating today to help the work continue. http://coalitionforgoodgovernance.org/donate

Apparently the GA SC has made an emergency ruling that paper backup has to be kept. Squinch Sep 2020 #4

IDK what caused this discovered flaw literally days before voting starts, but hell to the yes paper ballots now.

Why are the President, and the GOP broadly, so afraid of paper ballots that can be checked? I'd actually like to see signed and accessible ballots used so the who and what the individual voted for could be verified by the voter on the county Supervisor of Elections website afterward. This information can still be kept secret from employers, relatives, Political Parties, L.E., etc. and is to be accessed only by the individual voter to see if there have been any "mistakes" made.

and we know damn well there are, in some places more then others.

Because right now, a surprising number of voters feel their votes are somehow being changed. Had a number of younger people tell me over the last couple elections cycles that they just don't vote because they think that's exactly what happens so why bother, why waste your time? When the citizens of our nation can't and don't trust the election process they tend to get discouraged about a lot more than just that regarding our system of government, say fuck it and turn American Idol or WWE depending. What Political Party benefits from this?

Oh sure, in many places like in my county you can access your voter info showing if your mail in ballot or ballot of any type was received and recorded, which is nice to know but recorded for whom exactly?

So as things stand now, just knowing they got it is hardly the half of it and certainly not the most important part. What It won't tell you is if something somehow got changed and recorded differently, either by accident (which can happen) or by design.Only the individual voter who cast the ballot would know that info and be able to take whatever steps are needed to correct it.

It will be cumbersome and time consuming the first few election cycles no doubt and delay the results for awhile but theoretically they'd have from November latest until early Jan of the following year, a good 2 months and change. In the following elections I think the cheaters would get discouraged and quit even trying especially if this made it easier to get a few of them caught and jailed

In this century the advantages of having unverifiable "secret ballots" are outweighed by the disadvantages and one party only exploits this and it indirectly lead to Gore losing due to the Ohio incident for example. Only gawd knows how many state races, etc.in which Dems far outnumbered and out voted members of the Trump Party, and yet somehow lost.

Look at the increasing discrepancies in exit polling, which used to be pretty accurate.

Not sure how that works, but that will be one of the sticking points on election night. GA won't declare a winner and we'll have to wait, I bet.

And if GA is having the problem, so are other states. It's the Dominion voting machines. They're all over the place.
