Drives me nuts. If it were up to me, "Bob's Quick Guide to the Apostrophe, You Idiots" would be pinned at the top of every English-language discussion board, comments section and social media outlet.

In BOT factory, each bot develops multiply bot accounts. In response to a news story, they write a response and then COPY/paste and post that response under their multiple bot accounts, sometimes tweaking a few of the words. I have seen one bot persona used/shared at HP by TWO bots. Two different bots with different personalities. One bot can post reasonable/reflective comments on a topic and then at other times, posts that are totally absurd and extreme....drawing me to the conclusion that two different bots (in different shifts maybe) are posting under the one bot persona. They haven't figured out yet that their comments CONTRADICT each other, LOL!

just renders Twitter irrelevant as a source of information.

100% propaganda, and its so easy to avoid being exposed to it. After a while you end up assuming EVERY post from anyone is suspect.

As for Don's tweets - he seems to have multiple people posting under his name, judging from the sheer volume and correct use of grammar and spelling.

Who needs that? I don't!

Punctuation and spelling. They just drilled it I em to you. It’s kind of an obsession. And they’d award a holy card to the winner. I usually had a stack about three inches high. Used to collect ‘em like boys did baseball cards. We all did. “I’ve got 11 Nativity scenes. Can I trade one for a St. Agnes with the lamb?” “WOW - how many St. Christophers do you have?” “You got a St. Lucy with the eyeball tray (St. Lucy allegedly was blinded on her way to martyrdom and that’s often how she was depicted)? I’ve been looking for that one! Where’d you get it?”
And some of the martyrs were depicted with a bleeding cut at their throats to signify beheading. Pretty gruesome stuff. And we ate it up!

I come by it honestly. Drives me crazy.

The apostrophe thing is a big one here, but then there’s always their, there, they’re. Your and you’re.

Reign and rain seem to be on a resurgence here lately. The use of affect and effect seem to cause people a great deal of difficulty.

I could go on, but I know you know what I mean!

Sounds like you'll win the next holy card!

I got several extra Holy Family cards to trade for a St. Francis with the birds and animals or a St. Martin cutting his cloak in half for the beggar...

the chapel was a big square box that was gonna be the gym when they build a real church. never did, tho. when i went to my mom's funeral, they had redone it to look more like a church. took out about 2/3 of the pews and put a crazy drop ceiling sorta thing over a center alter.

but now i have to go look up st rita of cascia. i think she was martyred. my middle name is rita. boy did i hate that.

Disclaimer: I joined DU almost 4 years ago so I haven't been on Yahoo recently. It may be completely different now.

However during the 2015/16 campaign and election time, I used to see multiple posts from obvious bots that were word-for-word identical to each other. Of course they were all anti-Hillary, anti-Democratic, anti-liberal, and they were thoughtless spouts of complete nonsense. But the posts kept showing up on different Yahoo threads, posted by different "people" (with obvious fake names).

It seemed to me that there must be some archive available where they were getting the identical complaints/diatribes and all they did was copy and paste. If any other Yahoo poster challenged the rightwing garbage, they got either no response, or else a collection of anti-liberal insults. The fake-name "bot-people" NEVER responded to any thoughtful challenge because that didn't serve their purpose.

It seems this right-wing bot behavior has mostly moved into the Twitterverse now because of course, there are so many more eyeballs there than on Yahoo. I have to say it doesn't surprise me that they're there. I'm very glad they aren't on DU, and that's why I'm happy to be here!

Let's make sure we keep DU clean of all bots - especially the RWNJ types.
