(40,224 posts)Republicans need to stop electing woman who may be attractive and charismatic but are dumb as rocks.
With the exception of Lisa Murkowski, I can not think of any republican woman elected to a high office who exhibits intellect and critical thinking skills.

(3,044 posts)Other than McCain and Romney, most Repub men and women politicians follow Trump like whiny lap dogs. You would think someone would start an Alt Repub dialog seeing that they could be positioning themselves to be the leader of what comes after Trumpism. How can this many people have had spine-ectomies and still be walking around? I think it is a little of what Nikki Haley has played at but even that is timid distancing at best, not thought leadership.

With the surge of new cases in South West Minnesota as well as Northwest Iowa, and no place to go,things are getting damn nasty real quick.

(34,661 posts)Northwest Iowa are dependent on those two cities for major health care needs. Rural clinics and small Hospitals rely on a major Hospital system to handle their critical and specialty needs patients.
My Spouse's BIL has issues and if his local ER can not deal with them, they stabilize him and fly him to St Paul or Souix Falls, and that is dependent as too where life flight is at the time.

(34,661 posts)in the last ten years. Many Rural Areas have zero Hospital and Clinic Services within a half to a hours drive. We have one area here in Nevada where the closest Hospital is 106 miles away. And their emergency care Clinic is sixty miles east at a Gold Mining operation. The Ambulance Service is provided by two ladies in their Seventies who drive a vintage piece of equipment.

(3,044 posts)...stupid political leaders and the stupid people that won't take even reasonable care to protect themselves and others. I also wonder if smaller and more rural hospitals not only can handle the Covid patient load but can survive financially. Much of what it takes to protect and operate a hospital and its staff is pure overhead, not covered by insurance payments. And many of these hospitals were in tight financial situation before Covid. If the Feds provide a bailout it may work out, but if not, look for lots of smaller and more rural hospitals closing.

It is way overdue
