Schiff just subpoenaed DHS and the acting head of its intelligence office.

Adam Schiff @RepAdamSchiff 14m
BREAKING: @HouseIntel just subpoenaed DHS and the acting head of its intelligence office.
They are effectively blocking the whistleblower from testifying and have failed to provide key documents.
We will not tolerate DHS's obstruction and attempts to run out the clock.

but the next thing to occur should be arrests of all those who defied House subpoenas.

we need to throw the book at them, assuming we are in position to and Trump and the Republicans don't steal this thing.

is that regardless of who wins, once a winner is declared, the House declares war on all those who refused to answer their subpoenas.

the election, arrests by the House will be labelled as sour grapes retaliation. And who would carry out such arrests?

We need to make sure he does not steal it, and then carry through.

every electronic data-storage gizmo, and EVERY-fucking-BODY with a pulse who served this orange MoFo. Subpoenas to be followed by ARREST warrants for those who ignore them. Start with Bill F*cking Barr.

and the argument for "inherent authority" (although popular here on DU) was always a rather silly one in any case. On the other hand -- these subpoenas, even if stiff-armed, do carry weight in the courts -- and that is ultimately the point here.

Perhaps my memory is failing ... is there even one example where a congressional subpoena has done anything to pry loose the truth from these scofflaws?

All i seem to recall is this admin giving one big finger to the entire process ... and ignoring the courts as well.

if you remember the last time "inherent authority" was used. It's a fantasy scenario. But, you know -- if only our Democratic leaders had enough guts -- like you and I do ....

We follow the rules. We march in order. We’re trained in the old, orderly way of fighting while the RW attacks guerilla-style from the hedgerows and forests and decimates us. Enough!
