In some cases, more than one-third of voters decide in the last week or two of the campaign, many in the last day.

This is not one of those, however.

So, I'd agree that your points apply to this contest (though I think 90% might be low), but as a general rule, I'm not sure it's the case.

But in these times when a debater lies repeatedly in bad faith, non-stop, and is not checked by a fact-checker or called out by a moderator, they’re almost useless.

And I truly hate saying this. This is NOT the way things ought to be.
