This morning on Twitter from a voter in that Waco Texas county area: "I mailed in my vote last week. A few days later i received another ballot and letter that said the first ballot had left off the green party. That's not true. Told me to mail in this corrected ballot and they would throw the first away. I refuse to mail another ballot! Help?!"

(44,985 posts)I don't know what's going on in Waco Texas. Voter needs to contact her board of elections to see what is the proper thing to do.
And WTF is "I refuse to mail another ballot?"
Assuming it's legit then the voter might have to mail another ballot.

(14,737 posts)toss this letter out or vote twice and then they may also have their vote thrown out for voting twice. There were 8-- resent ballots.

(44,985 posts)election shouldn't throw out the second ballot.
WTF with refusing to mail another ballot? If the first ballot actually didn't have the Greens, they wont' count it.
Again, find out from board of election if it's legit and then if it is, follow instructions.

(44,985 posts)Did she take a photo of the ballot or she is thinking it from memory?
Again, those would be local Greens, down the ballot somewhere.
In races she might have not paid any attention to.

(44,985 posts)Although the article implies the ballots without the Greens haven't been send out.
Again, I would call board of elections and ask for instructions. And if they said to mail another ballot, freaking fill out another ballot and mail it.
"Texas Supreme Court ruling returning Green Party candidates to the November ballot will cost McLennan County some green, as more than 8,000 absentee ballots ready for distribution will have to be scrapped and re-produced with the candidates included."

(3,433 posts)They never mailed them...
We had 8,100 mail-in ballots sitting in a car, ready to be carried to the Post Office, when we were notified of what happened. Weve already been getting calls from people wanting to know about their ballot, asking, When am I going to get it? Well, its going to be a little longer now, probably the end of the month.

(137 posts)Some counties didn't get the memo or sent out ballots before the court case gave the green party candidates a place on the ballot. So yes it's completely possible a new ballot is needed. As the first poster suggested the person who is making the complaint needs to call the county election board head and find out what needs to be done.

(14,737 posts)ballot. She is a Dem. My only hope is that this will impact repugs as well.

(44,985 posts)Could be a Trumper trying to stir up trouble, claiming they are asked to vote twice. Could be somebody confused that Greens were on the ballot the first time. The Greens that should have been on the ballot appear to be local candidates.
Like I said, the voter needs to call their board of election and follow instructions.

(14,737 posts)Followup "Yez. I live in Clay County, Texas. I feel alot better.
Except my first ballot did have Greem Party listed with others.
Im still not mailing a second ballet
as both ballots look exactly same."
LisaL
(44,985 posts)her vote won't count.
At some point there has to be some common sense somewhere. If I was asked to mail my ballot because first ballot was erroneous, I sure as hell wouldn't refuse to do it.

(14,737 posts)problem and been given lots of good advise. My concern was about other voters who might not have their ballots counted if they had already mailed one in or if they just threw the latest one away. Since that is a very red area, so be it if it happens. To be honest, I was only concerned about her because she is a Dem.

When in doubt call your board of elections and have them say what is the proper thing to do. If she won't do that, then there is nothing anybody can do.
